Bird feeder location

I have a bird feeder in my backyard that doesn't seem as popular as it used to be. It's a low, tray feeder that I put millett in. It's in an area of the yard with shrubs and a tree. When I first put it in, the shrubs and tree were much smaller and the feeder was more in the open. This past year, the tree in particular has gotten bigger and the feeder is now somewhat more secluded. Should I move the feeder to a more open area? Do birds appreciate a secluded feeding spot and they'll adapt?
