Most wall plates just connect to the regular end of your HDMI,but keep in mind that from your wall plate to your(T.V,BLURAY,...) you will need extra HDMI cables,and also that at every connection point you will have DB loss(EX:connection to and from wall plates) plus the 50' cable you may need an HDMI booster.On my 50' run from my PC to my T.V, with the 2 wall plates (one in back of T.V,and one in back of the PC)plus two 6' HDMI cables i need a booster,if i bypass the wall plates i do not need the booster,good luck and keep us posted!!!!!!!!!!Oh and it looks way better with the wall plates installed,i made a coustom one for the 11.2 surround sound + cable when i redid the basement,looks very clean and pro!!

Need more info..... 1. How far back from the "TV" will the main seating area be? 2. What's the potential depth of the cabinet? 3. Any reason you would/could not have the surround sound equipment located WITH the multi-room stereo equipment (think source sharing, ventilation, video distribution)? 4. While I'm asking. What type of multi-room stereo system?

I needed to mount a TV above the fireplace because it was really the only place in the room it could be viewed by everyone and not in the way. The mantel of our fireplace is rather high (almost 6 feet) which would put the center of the TV well above a comfortable viewing angle. I spent months searching for a TV mount that could lower the TV to a decent height. I quickly discovered that anything motorized would cost several times what I paid for the TV. Beyond that, there were 2 options: Omnimount or Down and Out by Dynamic Mounting (http://www.dynamicmounting.com/index.php). The Omnimount is cheaper ($200-$300 vs. $400-$500) but an inferior product for my purposes. The Down and Out mount is much thinner (protrudes ~4 inches from the wall) and can lower the TV much farther (~30 inches!). I should also say that I have engineering degrees and tend to do all my own work. I thought about making my own mount but was a bit surprised at both the cost and level of difficulty. The Down and Out was fairly simple to mount on the wall and works VERY well.

angeldog- We are using Smarthome's "Reporter with voice" heat sensors around our pool. This provides a level of security as well as pool safety. When any of the sensors are triggered, the wireless receiver in our house sounds and you can also listen to anything going on around the sensor. You can also talk from the house to the sensors at the pool (like an intercom system). The sensors also have a relay that closes when triggered and can be used to turn on a loud outside siren which can be reset from the house. This is a wireless system that is super easy to install and is battery operated. I replace the batteries in our outdoor sensors about once a year and the receiver in the house will let you know when it is time to replace the batteries in the outdoor sensors before they die totally. The sensors are small and can be hidden easily. We have found multiple uses for our system: security, detecting when someone is close to the pool for safety, intercom system between the house and the pool and we also use one for a driveway alarm to tell us when someone is approaching our house down our long driveway. Each sensor has its own sound so you can easily tell which sensor was triggered. We have 6 total outside. We are also using one of these sensors to turn on our pool slide pump automatically when someone approaches our slide to help save energy when the slide is not in use. I continue to be amazed at the flexibility of this system for the relatively inexpensive investment. Hope this helps!
