Will this Craigslist Dining Room Set fit in my Dining Room?
Comments (13)Thank you for your replies. kew 2006: I moved the living room furniture in front of the wall unit in several different configurations. Unfortunately, it just looks awful. It is way too crowded and impractical with furniture blocking the wall unit. So I guess the issue is function vs. aesthetics. If I get the DR set, the wall unit has got to go. But since I need the storage space, I would probably buy a wall of Ikea bookcases and put them in a bedroom. Is the new DR worth the trouble?...See MoreBored of Orange Walls. Paint Dining Room White?
Comments (34)Sorry, cross post. I would still leave the wood on the stair, even if you paint the rest of the room white. I would never paint trim the same color as the wall because I love trim and want it to show. but as in the Tillinghast photo above, it does give a sleek background. (I like gray, too. but that 's for me. )...See MoreBoring, plain dining room, need help!
Comments (9)Thanks so much for the advice given so far, lots of really good suggestions. And thanks for providing the advice for first time posters. I've taken a some new pictures and have also uploaded the dimensions of the room. The reason we have such a large table is because our families are very large and in fact we have to put in two leafs in to accomodate everyone when we have a big dinner. And also, whoever mentioned it wasn't centered, yes you're completely right, lol We actually pushed the table further into the dining room to give us some more room in the living room as I'm home every day with our 2.5 year old and needed more room to play. We don't have tons of money to purchase new furniture or any really large items, I'm looking at smaller, less expensive ways of enhancing the room. But some of these bigger scale items I'll definitely keep in mind for the future....See Moreboring dining room help
Comments (17)Here are some guidelines for dining rugs. If you're handy with refinishing, it may be worth it to refinish your table. IMO pedestal tables are nice in many scenarios. Medium brown is a versatile wood tone. It will give you some contrast with your lighter more yellow floor and looks good with blue. Before you rush out and buy anything, start putting idea books together and try to understand what you like about the different photos and how it would work in your space. Window shopping and trying out chairs for comfort is helpful. Dining chairs vary in seat height and depth, and you want it to be a good height for your table - tables sometimes vary a bit. Our dining table is an antique and is a little higher than average so we had to find chairs that were higher....See Moreindomom
