I think my rose is sick
Comments (4)And of course I just cut all of the damaged areas off and got rid of it!! I don't know why I didn't think to take a picture. I did look up pictures of midge damage on the web, and it looks like that causes wilting. My rose tips are hard and brown, just like if you had cut off a piece of the rose bush and set it aside for a week or more to dry. It is very brittle, the ends will snap in my hand, even the pieces that are as big around as a pencil. If, and I am hoping it doesn't happen again, it does this on any other branches I will take a picture and post it. Thank you! S...See MoreI think my glodsifh is sick? but wht do i do?
Comments (1)you definitely have a sick fish. i think the best treatment for sick goldfish is what is called the salt treatment. make sure the water is clean, aerated and use dechlorinater. keep the fish in 1% salt solution as described on the package for healthy fish. if you have a sick fish you can increase that to 3x the recommended for a few weeks until the fish recovers. this amount will damage live plants so don't do it in a planted aquarium. but aquarium or pond salt from a pet storeÂdon't use table salt as it usually contains iodine. kosher sea salt is ok, but will cost you 10 times what pond salt will. it is very cheap and as effective as most medications. it will contribute to the overall health of the fish so you should use even if the fish are healthy to increase thier slime coat and protect their gills from nitrate damage. i try not to use medications because they often harm bacteria cultures and will cost more than the goldfish. i use salt constantly and have never had a sick fish that did not come to me sick. water changes are usually beneficial as long as you treat the water, keep the temperature constant and don't stress the fish when you do it. good luck....See MoreI think my tomatoes are deathly sick :(
Comments (1)Beverly, It appears to be a slight magnesium deficiency - perhaps a leaching out of minerals in your soil due to the steady rains you've had. But other leaves seem to display signs of early blight as well - a fungus which can be controlled with Daconil, or Ortho Disease Control which is available at most home stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.). After the rains have passed, I recommend fertilizing your plants and see if that restores some greening to the leaves. You should also remove any leaves that have obvious signs of brown spotting or necrosis. Teresa :)...See MoreHelp! I think my avocado tree is dying
Comments (8)If you fertilized using that Fantastik Heavy Duty well that could be a problem! :-P It might be too early to fertilize anyway, a young avocado still gets its nutrients from the pit while it's attached. I don't have much experience with grow lights, so I can't say if the avo is getting enough proper lighting... so the yellowing on the leaves would point towards a watering problem. The soil is not the best (esp for drying quick enough--which is essential for preventing root rot), but you might work with it by careful watering. Simply, I'd mix in more perlite. Also, I do not see a tray for that pot, or the size of the holes (if any) and I'd be worried about not having enough drainage, but hard to tell from just photo. As a guideline, water when the leaves start to droop noticeably, and only then use like two shotglasses of water to that soil you're currently using. Also, to me the plant looks like it's planted shallow, I cannot imagine there is enough room for roots to develop and that could be stunting its growth. If you're going to raise it up to repot then that would be a good time to mix some better soil, perhaps sift out some of the black powdery stuff. But maybe hold off on anything drastic since you just repotted it. In the meantime find out more about good soil, and start looking to acquire the neccessary ingredients without spending too much cash. DIY avocados shouldn't really cost anything otherwise it defeats the whole purpose! ...your plant will live regardless, but you want it to also thrive!...See Moreh_bubulyte
