Bed risers

Since I got a new mattress and foundation I need to raise my bed frame up about 2". I saw some wood bed risers online at $25 for a set of four. My bed frame has nine legs. I made these from scraps of wood. Even after buying a 2.5" forstner wood bit I saved a lot of money over buying 3 sets of the ones I saw online.

Emily & I have been sitting here this morning, rereading every one of your posts and adding things to our ongoing lists to do, to take and to buy. They have helped so much. You've helped us both by suggesting things we hadn't thought of and you've also saved me money, because I'm not having to ship off things DD will need but we'd forgotten. And yes, I do realize that there will be local stores that she can shop at for forgotten items, but as I mentioned here before, we've been there and done this with DS nine years ago. Let me mention it again for any other new freshman parents: the local stores in the area will be a nightmare to shop at that move-in day and for at least the next week afterwards! Most needed items will be quickly sold out and the check-out lines will be staggeringly long with stressed out, frazzled parents and students. Been there, will NOT be doing that one again this time! Lisa: thank you for that suggestion! I'd hadn't yet thought of her immunization records, but have just added this to our list. Suero: thanks for that link. I've made a list of things we need to check with housing about. Lazy: yes, the school does provide bed, mattress, desk, chair, etc. I'm with you on the stores and madhouse there will be at them that first day/week ;^D Gotta run errands with DD once again. Comments (2)Check out the pipes and flanges at the hardware stores. The pipe can be cut to the length you need and the flanges can screw onto the metal bed frame if the surface is wide enough. If you are going to paint the bed the silver hammered metal spray paint looks better than plain silver. I used it on some kitchen knobs to update them....See MoreMakin' Do and Gettin' Through

If it's hanging, we use it. I'm still trying to decide where it will hang in the "final" kitchen. Well, the window wall is an exterior wall, Oldbat2be. DH got the new window in since I took this picture, so it's not quite as drafty now. The wall behind the stove backs up to a family room addition that was put on in the 70's. I'd like to say that that is keeping us warmer, but that family room is like an i.c.e b.o.x! It's on our list of things to fix before next winter rolls around. We're in the northeast, so yes, we're pretty chilly right now! It's beautiful outside our windows, but oh is it ccccccooooooollld. Comments (15)Karin - Never have overfilled them, always sucked all the air out. Everything looks fantastic for a few weeks, and then BAM. I can not tell you how much money I've wasted on these bags. I will never use one again, even if it was free! And on the same page as Patricia...just not a fan of storing things under the bed, UNLESS it's an actual under the bed drawer. We JUST purchased an IKEA bed with storage (was an IKEA virgin before), for the guest room. Couldn't; be more in love. 11 years agoI needed more storage, and have an odd sized mattress, a super single. After much consideration I bought two TV cabinets, and put them back to back, with a little extra storage area between them, topped them with a sheet of plywood, and got a tall bed. :)
