Capital Culinarian Huge Problems - HORRIBLE customer service!
Comments (84)I bought my 48" Capital Connoisseurian on October 14, 2014 from Trevor Lawson at Eurostoves. I liked it so much I have purchased another, a 36" for another kitchen redo. After researching many stoves I chose the Capital for the stovetop. The open burners have the best flame distribution and heat levels of any stove i can find. And the stove has performed quite well since until a few months ago the thermostat for the oven was not working. I called their service company and new thermostats were sent straight away. However a service person is not to be found. I went on the Capital Cooking website and searched the "Find a Dealer". I called dealers in New England, they were not really dealers, they don't have a stove in their showrooms. If they don't sell them, they don't service them. So I called dealers on the west coast to see if they were ghost dealers too. I only found one, a large design center that stated they carry the Capital stove line. I did find a local guy that said he could replace the thermostats for me which he did. They do not work properly. Yesterday was Thanksgiving, I had 24 guest relatives from around the country. I did a lot of math figuring out what to set the oven controls to in order to get the actual desired temp inside the ovens. There were a lot of adjustments throughout the 5 hour cooking time. I was really lucky, because the fire behind the back panel didn't start until after the turkey was done. Now I have a $10,000 stove with no service person to call. And another I hope does not break anytime soon. What a dilemma. I see that most recent chatter is 2 years old. So have the service issues been solved, or have folks just given up, purchased other stoves, and moved on? I like to get this one fixed. Located in CT. Has there been any success finding a service person?...See MoreFrom horrible customer service to excellent service!
Comments (8)I always call back if I don't get a satisfactory answer/result to my request. 9 times out of 10 I get the results I was hoping for the second time around. And always get names. I've started telling them that I too am recording this phone call. I have an app on my phone that records both sides of a conversation. I have it for work related phone calls so if I'm not where I can write down information I can recall it at a later time. I've also found that (most of the time) women take their jobs way too seriously or act like they have a chip on their shoulders. Men are much easier to deal with. As always, keeping the high road and keep calm pays off...except for the time I told one Eastern Indian (who had no business dealing with the American public) that if I knew where he lived, I'd fly a plane thru his tent! This was shortly after 9-11. I think I broke my phone that day :(...See MoreThermador customer service is TERRIBLE
Comments (56)First, the defrost pan on my 6 year old freezer failed. I couldn't get anyone to give me service on it so I called to ask what the resistance should be on the 2 different heaters. That was when I was told they do not offer diagnostic help via the phone. I explained I wanted the specification not help diagnosing but I was told no help over the phone and then disconnected. I finally tested and realized which one was not working. Got on the Thermador parts site and ordered the parts which they had in stock (I was pleasantly surprised). I ordered the parts and they offered two day shipping so I paid the $17.00 for the two day shipping. After receiving the tracking information, I checked the shipment status on Wednesday. It shipped on Monday and was scheduled to arrive the following Monday but it was now going to arrive early on Friday.... I should have received the parts on Wednesday. I called customer service and explained my disappointment and asked for reimbursement of the $17.00 charge for two day shipping. First I was told they could not reimburse me and I asked why they couldn't since I didn't receive it? Then I was told I had to file a claim with the shipping company. When asked how they would reimburse me for something I paid to Thermador, I was transferred to another department that deals with builders(?). She explained she could not do anything but submitted it to management for review and follow-up. I received a call Friday stating they could not reimburse me for shipping charges with no explanation other than when they shipped it on Monday it was after the cut off time for the two day shipping (Is this my fault?). I paid for this with a credit card so I submitted a dispute with them and within 15 minutes of filing the dispute I received a credit of $17.00. I don't think I will utilize Thermador directly for anything else should the need arise. It leaves me to wonder what would have happened if I didn't receive all of the parts? Would I have been refunded for the parts not actually shipped?...See MoreCustomer Service Done Wrong
Comments (29)How annoying!! We had a problem with our roofer. We have a contractor doing our entire project, but hired a roofer independently because he was highly recommended and cost $10K less. The roofer's guys punctured a pipe, didn't tell anyone, and turned the water off. We didn't realize THEY had turned the water off (why would they?!), so our contractor turned it back on for us (late in the day, 6 PM) because he thought HIS guys who were working on plumbing did it. Next morning, water pouring out of garage. We ended up having to re-do the entire garage ceiling and fix/replace the pipe. Roofer insists it's not his fault because the pipe shouldn't have been there. And he insists they didn't turn the water off. Guess God came down from on high and did it, because my contractor ended up checking in with his plumber later and they said no one had turned the water off that day. Re: bringing in people from other states. We are bringing Dutchwood up from PA to do our entire FL house full of cabinetry. It is $132,000 cheaper to bring in our PA cabinetmakers here for two weeks and truck up EIGHT truckloads full of cabinets than it was to have anyone here make what we wanted! Bringing in the people you trust is worth it! At any rate, I hope your problems get fixed soon! What a hassle for you!...See Morewildchild2x2
