Need a new pair of Felcos
Comments (16)My hands are little - can't quite span an octave on the piano - but I swear by the larger Felcos. I can simply cut bigger things more easily. I am not a fan of a rotating handle. I bought some Felco 11's on eBay, which are the same size as 2's, I believe, and simply love them. I use a clip-on holster - the Felco one is too dinky so I prefer the Corona - and rarely lose them since I am in the habit of slapping my hip to see if they are there, and if they aren't, I backtrack immediately to find them. I'm so scatterbrained that I used to lose secateurs constantly. I find it very funny when we cemetery rose garden volunteers swagger into the coffee shop after a long day, dirty, sweaty, scratched and fully armed with our Felcos at our side. I always picture the scenes in Westerns when the crowd at the bar edges away uneasily as the gunslingers come through the saloon door. We've never been told, "Girls, we don't allow Felcos in this town" but maybe someday we will! Glad you found yours. Anita...See MoreIs this used Miele laundry pair a good deal
Comments (2)I bought a Miele 1986 in fair condition (mechanically fine, but needing a thorough cleaning) last spring for $200. (Western Mass Craig's List). I have since seen others on that and nearby Cls for $150-300 for just the washer, no knowledge of exact conditin but none advertised as "needing work". I don't know where you are, but perhaps that's a good place to look for others. You can move the machines on a trailer, in a van, or very small UHAUL. All it takes is a couple of strong people on each end and an appliance dolly and straps. I would pass on these because of the price, which seems high. But then I am not afraid of breaking down a machine and cleaning it, if necessary, so I don't need a pristine machine, only one that hasn't been abused. The smaller 220v Miele machines are the nuts (I have more than one) and worth watching for. They aren't rare in CL because many people can't wrap their heads around the apparently small size and incorrectly believe they are small capacity. Oh well, their loss is my, or your, gain. Good luck in your search. If you do get these machines, be sure to come away with the water supply hoses and crook-ended drain hose which are OEM Miele parts, not generic ones, and quite expensive to replace. Try to get the uncommon Miele-plug fitting 220V socket, if you can. It's not expensive to buy just sometimes takes hunting to find one. It will take an electrically savvy person to remove it from the seller's wiring. Ordinary 2220v sockets won't work with Miele plugs, though in general, of course, the circuit breaker and wiring to the box will. If you don't get these, keep looking because the machines are hidden gems. HTH, L....See MoreLaundry pair for second floor
Comments (8)Hi Regus The subfloor is 3/4" ply over 2x10 joists on 8" centers. (knowing the laundry was going here I doubled up the joists.) Yes, washer on left, dryer on right. The dryer is right up against the exterior wall so the vent is very short. I have resilient channel and accoustic drywall on the ceiling below, so I have done what I can to dampen what noise there might be, now I'm looking for the quietest laundry equipment. Comments (0)After 3 days of searching the internet, looking at prices, reading forums, reading reviews and generally confusing myself, I now turn to you the people for help. I have an upper floor laundry, with a slow leaking washer that I would like to replace. Good old traditional top load, non efficient 90's model which has finally started to slowly leak (probably a seal) and so rather than spend X dollars for fixing and no guarantee to say it can't happen again in the future, I would like to buy new. I am already paranoid about the washer and the dryer, new would make me feel better. So I am looking for a pair, I have NO preference for top load, front load, stackable, non stackable, I just want clean clothes and a quiet machine 27" wide. I don't want weird smells, or strange residues, I don't want models that have issues 30 days later and bad customer service. Any suggestions?...See MoreRault85
