program stopped working

Recently I had trouble with my computer--I think someone tried to get into it, but the next day everything seemed OK BUT, now I get this message all the time--Internet Explorer has stopped working. I use FF . Should I uninstall IE, and try to reinstall?

If I don't already have it, I might download and run a scan with https://www.malwarebytes.org/ - when you install it, watch for and uncheck the box for the free trial. Then you'll have the free version.

One possible reason IE stops working is some add-on is poorly written plus you saying you thought someone was maybe messing with it.. maybe is some malware.

If you know how to, run SFC /ScanNow ... that might be a good idea too.

If those two things don't seem to fix it I might look in IE internet options and the last tab has a Reset button - I'd use that before deciding to uninstall / reinstall.

I wouldn't do anything just yet,

I just missed the FF icon and wound up on IE (unsteady mouse). It was full of annoying adds but a news story caught my eye so I started reading. IE closed on me too. I think they are having problems today.

I sometimes get that message when I have a loose connection, either with my cable modem or the Linksys router. It will clear after checking the connections and/or pushing the reset button. Just my 2 c's. Bejay

Craftsman remote stopped working after replacing battery

I realize this is an old post but I am having the same problem, hoping someone can help. I replaced the battery because I was having to push the button several times to get it to work. After I put in a fresh battery (not upside down) it won't work at all. So I went to Sears and bought a new remote today (yes the correct model) and it won't program.

OK, now what do I do? trying to do the sfc/scannow and all I get is needs internal or externall command I have tried every password I have even making a new by for Me (administrator)

Marie...are you entering the sfc /scannow using the Command Prompt tool with "Run as Administrator" and leaving a space between sfc and /scannow ? I've never received that kind of message. I suspect you may not be leaving the space after sfc before adding /scannow. That seemingly inconsequential space is a necessity to MS Win.

No password should be necessary/required to use the Command Prompt tool.

First thing to do is reset IE and yes, you can do this at tools on IE, internet options, advanced, scroll down to reset IE and follow through.
