Ficus benjamina pruning

Hi folks,

I have a f. benjamina that was originally pruned into a very attractive round shape. Some of the main branches have gotten quite a bit taller since I got it, however, the tree is doing the typical f. benjamina thing of concentrating growth at the branch tips, leaving the main "body" of the tree rather sparse.

I've read on here before (from Al) to prune the top back hard, the middle back a medium amount, and the bottom a small amount. However, if it's possible to get a taller tree, I would be game for that. But-- since the tree was shaped when I got it, am I kind of "stuck" with the tree at that height? If so, I'll follow the aforementioned advice. If not, how would you recommend I prune in order to get a taller tree? (I hope to eventually return it to the "round" shape it had when I got it, just a higher up round shape!)

Thanks!!
