I have always admired Martha Stewart. Love to watch her cooking shows.

I've only tried a couple of her recipes, I liked the little Everyday Food books. They were handy to have in my purse for quick reading. I like her cooking show on Saturdays.

I think a number of cooking shows feed their crew. I remember one show specifically; it was a demonstration program by chefs and at the end it would always show the cameramen coming to the table to eat. Great to see.

I think Rachael Ray does that as well.

I'm a sucker for her blogs about her pets. She has a wonderful collection of animals including horses and donkeys...and from what I see...they're as well taken care of as royalty. Take a look. I think you'll enjoy her daily entries.

I read an article about a tell-all book that has just come out, written by a retired NYC TV stage manager:

“I only worked on her show for a week, but a week with Martha was
like a month without sunshine. Martha had three female assistants under
the age of 30. At any given point, one would be in tears.

“The props list for the shoot was incredible. Lots of food and
sewing. The director came over to me with a straight face and says, ‘The
most important part of your job is to make sure Martha knows where her
salt and pepper are at all times.’ I thought he was joking, but he was
serious.”

Of course, the lovely, relaxed worlds of cooking, baking and other home arts on the Martha Stewart shows don't reflect behind-the-scenes reality, but that doesn't stop me from wanting her to move in with me and work her magic at my house! LOL!

I am sure she is a perfectionist. That doesn't bother me at all that some people find her to be difficult. I wrote to her when she was in prison, and she wrote me back, thanking me for my letter. So many people said it was over for her, and she would never come back. I was so happy to see that she did make a comeback. I love reading about her pets and her houses, as much as reading her recipes. I have only made two or her recipes. One was, I think, called New Orleans shrimp, and it was great. The other was her mile high lemon meringue pie. The pie was a total flop...and I thought it wasn't going to work out, as I made the recipe, but I went along....and it was awful. I got the recipe out of her magazine and the next month was a retraction.....correction....of the recipe. Too late for my pie. I went back to my usual recipe.

Martha Stewart is a four-time felon. I have no sympathy for her. And what she claims as "her" recipes are seldom "hers". Most were done by other people long the jailbird was on TV. But people are gullible and believe that she designed everything, cooked everything on the show herself and magically makes up the recipes that never existed before the 4timeFelon put it on the internet or TV.

It's funny how so many people will dive at people who haven't been convicted of anything yet a criminal is convicted, the same people will forgive and forget. Isn't that the definition of "hypocrisy"? LOL

Oh, and calling Camp Cupcake a "prison" is laughable. And it's an insult to the people who actually have done or are doing time in a prison. Which reminds me, the felon was given a gift in the prison and she even started making them and selling them without the designer's permission! Once a crook, always a crook!

A young friend of mine always dreamed of working on Martha's magazine. She scored a job there after college, and is still there 8 years later, still happy to be part of it.

I've never watched her show. I've had a free subscription to her magazine for quite some time. I cut out a recipe for a giant chocolate chip cookie made in a 10" cast iron skillet that was an instant hit at my house!

Her eggnog is a hit here over the holidays. Warning. It packs a serious punch!

cynic, I couldn't find anything on her making and selling a gift she got in prison? Can you supply that? Do you not believe once someone has served their time they have paid their dues? But I never really think the faces of designing and cooking make it all themselves. I think they present it really well, often.

I'm not Cynic, Robb...but here's the answer...linked below. The poncho was made for her by inmates that she worked with while in prison. As inmates are rarely allowed to make money outside of their prison chores...it was agreed amongst them...at the time...that any proceeds from the sale of the poncho would be donated to charity...and they were.

I see the poncho, but I don't see that it was without anyone's permission? Looks like a basic pattern too. I really was ready to see her doing wrong, but I still don't see it. Especially if they agreed that it was to go to charity, and it did!
