Help picking dining chairs and table!!

We have a small breakfast nook and have finally found the counter height table that we are looking for, Parson's table from Crate and Barrel and Lowe's counter height chair. But we can't find a color combination that goes with the rest of the house. We went ahead and bought the Grey Glass, Black Base table with Grey Lowe chairs and they look amazing together, but terrible in our newly remodeled house (what were we thinking!). Here is a picture:

We want to buy the same set, but with different colors and were thinking of getting the Lowe counter chairs in ivory with a Parson's table with clear glass and elm wood base. Here are the pics:

Do you think the two would go together? If not, any other suggestions from the same set? We definitely want to go with glass, since none of the other table tops would survive the onslaught of kids in our house. Please help!!

I love the elm table with glass top. I think it's one of the most expensive looking combos int he collection. I'm struggling to make it work with the chairs, though. I have zero problem mixing woods, but I think these two pieces of different "feels" to them. Do you definitely want to stick to those two collections? Like either Lowe chair or the mix and match table?

The table size is the only one we found that fits our space and is also a counter height table. The Lowe chairs we really like, since they are super comfortable without being bulky and fit perfectly into the table. They are also leather, which make them much easier to clean - we have two kids and host a lot of their friends. I do understand about the feel though. The chairs seem more contemporary and "cooler" and the table warmer. Do you think the dark steel base with clear table top would fit in our space?

I think they would go with the chairs, but not sure about the space. The ivory chair would match the lighter tile and counter top, but not sure if the table will have too much black. Also, we are hanging this chandelier above the space:

So wondering if the dark bronze of the chandelier will work with the black base. BTW, thank you for your comments :)

I see that one of your kids is still in high chair mode. I have a round table, similar to yours, but mine is a real 1900 antique. I have had it since I had a highchair sitter and a toddler. I also didn't like the sea of oak, so I painted the pedestal of the table ( and have regretted that almost daily since about 3 years after I did it!) and painted the oak chairs that went with the table. Well, the chairs soon looked awful from kids pushing them into the table and chipping the paint and generally "using" the chairs. My advice would be to get tie on chair cushions to break up all the "oakey-oak" and when the kids have a few more years on them, then find new chairs or paint the old ones. I now have black Hitchcock chairs with my table....and they are now looking like they need some help!

Color is very hard to assess on line. Do you have chairs? Window treatments? What china do you plan on using with this table? Do you have a chandelier? Do you have or plan on a rug? What other furnishings and finishes do you plan or have in the room? All these are factors to fold into your decision-making. Some photos of the room would help and we can do mock ups with various finish choices. In summary, we need more info.

Sorry, I definitely do not like that allmodern chair with your table. It would look like it’s on stilettos compared to the big elephant legs of the table. Sometimes contrast works, but not in this instance I’m afraid. The original chair that you said you liked seems to be a pretty good pairing, wood and leg wise at least. And I too, like black with a wood table. Maybe there are more affordable versions of that? What do your current chairs look like? Maybe using those for awhile, at least until you can find just the right thing is a great solution. Or, these are cheap and might need tightening of the screws pretty regularly, but maybe for the price, if they last you a good 2-3 years, it’s worth it and you can replace down the road when things have settled down a bit. With the sturdy ?wood? looking table legs, those metal chair legs are not a good visual ... and I agree, they are too splayed and that would make them more likely to collapse. Totally understand your dilemma. I am liking the elm in your space much more than the black table. If you're set on those chairs, I think maybe the dark chandelier would tie them in. It's not an ideal combo, but sometimes you just gotta choose function over form!!! We have a breakfast room table that we bought purely for looks, and everyone is afraid to sit at it because they think they're scratch it! (and they would definitely scratch it). You don't want to live like that!

Those chairs are actually really similar to what we have.
