Comments (4)Roses don't grow well indoors, as mike_rivers said. These roses are intended to be more like a cut flower--they bloom and then you throw them out. Now, that's not what we usually do with them, but that's the idea behind plants like this. They are green house grown very quckly to a small uniform size, fed heavily to make them bloom, and then sold at the supermarket or big box store as gifts. It's not that you are doing anything wrong, its that they have had absolutely perfect controlled temperature, humidity, lighting, water, fertilizer, and pesticides to make them look perfect. Now they are in the real world and they are having to deal with it for the first time in their little lives. You can plant them in a pot outdoors (there are often 4-6 individual plants in the single container) or in the ground. They won't survive indoors. They may or may not be good in the garden--some are very good, others are terrible....See MoreWhat is Wrong with my Rose?
Comments (11)I live up in Lake Havasu and my roses look like that right now after our long hot summer temps. When it cools down under 85F they will recover and go back to there wonderful selfs. I do not give my roses any food in the hot temps but water and lots of it. In the spring right before it starts to get hot they get a good long term slow release fertilizer to last them until it cools down in the late fall(I use a 4 month slow release). The markings on your leaves are from the heat, they are sunburned. Every fall when it cools down under 85F I cut off all the damaged, ugly looking stuff and feed them really well and they come right back to were they were in the cool spring. It is amazing how resilient the roses are, to withstand 115F+ sometimes 120+ and then go back to the beautiful roses I look forward to each year. Just cut off all the brown ugly stuff and feed them when it cools down and they will be ok....See MoreWhat's wrong with my roses?
Comments (12)Yep, that definitely is a spider mite problem. When I moved into my new place, I kept my Miniature rose home cause I was way too busy with unpacking, settling and all and within that time span, Spider mites ravaged my plant. When I put it outside, under the rain, it came back :) Thou, spraying the plant with water regularly (sometimes, daily) will help keep the mites off. I grew a Patio rose in my home and got it to bloom, all the while avoiding spider mite infestations by misting the plant with water....See MoreAny idea what might be wrong with my Gertrude Jekyll rose? Comments (2)That looks like old mottled green leaves that could be removed and let the new leaves take over. I snip them off so the branch doesn't tear. You'll feel so much better when last year's leaves are gone. The new reddish leaves look good....See MoreRosienut Z9B CA
