What brand/model of stackable washer/dryer?
Comments (27)Boop, I did the same thing when my washer headed south. Just can't figure out how to get things clean with LG. After reading more reviews than is the norm, we are all having the same problems. LG seems to refuse to address them. The suggestion to keep the washer door open is ludicrous. Are you finding any specific option that works better than the others. I tried the Sanitary just the other day and was floored the timing was close to 2 hours. I haven't tried programming a cycle just for what I want. The reason I bought these was LG had the option to change the controls from top to bottom which makes it far easier to get to controls when stacked. So my dryer has the controls just above the washer. No issues with the dryer, it is great. If I thought the dryer could be attached on top of another brand, I'd admit to a mistake and buy a different washer....See MoreWould you do this in your house? A laundry closet?
Comments (26)gramarows, thanks for the thoughts. The water lines come out the side of the washer? Mine would require an access panel in the middle of a bedroom wall. I think it is probably possible to do a panel from the side, which is a wall separating the (now) shower and the toilet. I talked with my contractor about having a shallow in-wall cabinet facing the toilet side, with a removable back to access the dryer vent. But then we got stymied by my requirement that the dryer vent go straight out, through the toilet area to the outside wall so that I can access it to clean it without having to get someone to go into the crawlspace (as it is now) or the attic. I want to be able to clean it myself and I just can't figure out how to vent it. I think I could have an above toilet cabinet with a false bottom or something that the vent hose could pass through to the outside wall, but I just get frustrated trying to figure it out. He just thinks it should go up or down through the wall from the dryer and then outside from the attic or crawl space. I think I need a new set of eyes to try to figure it out, as we are at an impasse and I just procrastinate doing the whole thing....See MoreFL W/D, stackable, with HOT water and lots of it
Comments (18)First of all, thanks to Linus for his suggestion and link. It is quite expensive but given our experience that a normal Miele lasts us 10 years, these might last us the rest of our lifetime (I am 60) so averaged over this time it looks affordable. I try not to think that a good Miele in Europe costs less than $1000 and has all the features that we would want. I take the points of Art and wdccruise and thank you for them. You may well be right. However, we know that washing whites at very high temperatures and with lots of water does get them truly clean. We have tried with less water and lower temperatures and it does not, at least for us. At ages 60 and 71, it is a bit of teaching new tricks to old dogs. So I am seriously considering the little giants. I also note that in North America, it appears that a lot of bleach is used to remove stains. We have tried this as well, with only limited success. I worry that it is slowly killing off my septic field. Also, as other threads on Houzz explained, bleach does not remove stains but just denatures them and makes them invisible. Washing at near boiling with lots of soap does actually remove them....See MoreLaundry room dilemma
Comments (11)Thank you all for your advice, comments, and personal experiences. Will likely opt for the bigger bedroom but will miss the laundry upstairs A TON. Husband said he will do all the carrying of the laundry. Lol. One of the reasons we loved the house was the laundry on the 2nd floor. But overall 4 bedrooms of all decent size would probably be better resale value I guess. Plus our current laundry closet on our 2nd floor has tile floor but I didn’t ever find a drain so that is scary now that I’ve read guidance to other folks that they should make sure they have that. Should a drain be installed in the mudroom if the W/D is there now?...See Moremamapinky0
