Have You Ever Made Sandwiches using..........?
Comments (10)I don't care for salad sandwiches except for tuna or egg salad so no I don't. But I'm with Glenda on the pulled pork or Kalua if you prefer. Boston butt is what I use. The fat is cooked out and you are left with mouth watering tender meat. I don't mix in BBQ sauce. I make my pulled pork sandwiches naked with a drizzle of BBQ sauce on them and a scoop of coleslaw on top. All between a crusty buttered and toasted roll....See MoreHave you ever made this?
Comments (20)It looks to be heavy and greasy too. A lighter choice would be something along the lines of a French onion tarte. Like a quiche but with onions. I'm sure not as much cheese, no 8 slices of double buttered bread and with the bulk coming from fluffy beaten eggs....See MoreHave you ever made a Trifle?
Comments (27)Until the UK joined what was then the EEC and had greater exposure to/from the rest of Europe, it had in the minds of many the WORST food in Europe. Unless bland, greasy, overcooked food is your thing. Standard advice back in the 70s and 80s for finding restaurants in London was to go to Soho and look for a Chinese or Indian place or other foreign food and avoid local restaurants at all costs. I give the English credit for creating trifle (which isn't all that different from strawberry shortcake and many pastry concoctions common on the Continent) but not for execution. Same for the other areas of Britain. Food there has improved from the few decades of foreign influence but the local traditions are still hideous. Unless local favorites like jellied eel, steak and kidney (yes real kidneys) pie, haggis or baked beans on toast, among others, are your idea of good food. Have you ever heard this one: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In Heaven: The Cooks Are French, The Policemen Are English, The Mechanics Are German, The Lovers Are Italian And The Bankers Are Swiss. In Hell: The Cooks Are English, The Policemen Are German, The Mechanics Are French, The Lovers Are Swiss And The Bankers Are Italian. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friends don't let friends use most English or British recipes and also not most food products....See MoreHave You Ever Seen a Kitchen Backsplash Made of Wood?
Comments (17)Nini, I am not in love with the granite. We didn’t choose the counter and I would not have chosen it. But.....after having kitchens in different houses and chasing expensive trends in what was supposed to be the forever house that I eventually could not wait to leave because supervising it was like being the mayor of my own town, I am very reluctant to change it. For one, what would I change it to? I don’t love quartz or marble, certainly not enough to change this for either. I still love tile counters but would not do that bc they are impractical. If anything I would change to wood counters, then would still have to do something with backsplash and probably would end up changing the cabinets too. I am not going down that rabbit hole this time. I’m not after a dream kitchen—-I just want to like this one more. And to accomplish that I will do smaller projects targeted at the element I like least, in this case the backsplash. Does that make sense? It would not have to me twenty years ago!...See MoreGeorgysmom
