Well, I don't know. I looked at both those roses on Help Me Find and I guess it could be. Maybe there was something about the way this GW member grew this rose or pruned it that gave it a little different look to it. And the color of the rose on the arbor seems a little coral to me, but that could just be the camera or the light. Thanks for the help. :-)

You're welcome. Happy to be able to help. I came here 12 0r 13 years ago requesting an ID for the very same rose. I knew nothing about roses then, but I read alot and really got interested in old roses (people have been enjoying Clotilde Soupert since the 1890's!) I have since aquired a few more and I am still in awe that I can grow anything so lovely right here my own back yard! Sorry to hear about your Satsuma. 25ft., how old was it? I love Satsumas (and kumquats) I've not tried growing them, not sure I have a place protected enough, I'm out in the boonies and I'm pretty sure it has got down to at least 10 degrees here at least once every winter. The older survivors do better here in towns or near water where they stay a few degrees warmer. May be, but I don't think there's anything can be done about the CS blooms hanging down. I've noticed most of them start out pointing up but as those petals multiply, they get heavier. (btw, there is supposed to be a climbing version, tho I've not seen it-that way you would be underneath the blooms :) Where did yours come from?

...just my observations but I agree with others that it's a dead ringer for 'Zephirine Drouhin'...going from the description.... and I assume this will be from the 1950's?... when I read earlier descriptions of this rose, they all seem to agree that it blooms until checked by frost and the disease issues that we see today, don't appear to have been such a problem in earlier times.... over here it's always put down to increased pollution kept these issues at bay, but today's cleaner air allows more black spot and mildew to proliferate... that's how I understand it... ....I can imagine in Shelbyville Texas, decades ago, this rose would have still been regarded as disease resistant... ...even here, it also grows to 8 foot or so in its first year.... all sounds about right...

Sorry, I have no idea, but the round leaves should help in identifying it. I also would suggest posting this question on the general rose forum. It is a really drop-dead gorgeous rose.
