cucumber beetles

They've descended on my squash and cucumbers again this year. Last year I picked a bit, did not use any kind of organic or chemical treatment, and lost most of cucurbits. Research suggests I have several poor organic options. I'd prefer an organic option, but from what I've read neither pyrethrin (which has done ok for me on Japanese beetles in the past) nor rotenone (which I've never used) is terribly effective against striped cucumber beetle.

Research suggests that Sevin spray or dust is very effective--but I'm not sure I want to apply it or deal with its impacts on other insects.

Any suggestions? Too late for row covers--the beetles are already here in numbers. They are mating like crazy now despite my frantic picking and vaccuuming, and I'll have the larvae invading the roots ASAP if I don't find a solution.
