Hi, first of all I love your house and furniture. I like the first option better but how about this (I don't know if it works): put the couch under the window facing the dining room and put the console where the couch was originally. Possibly a big ottoman (rectangular) between the coffee table and the dining room (so you can sit and chat with the couch but not block the view of the dining), put the chair in the first option angled facing the console. I assume that's your front door, moving the console leaves that walkway more available. I would put something else there, a narrow table or chest of some type. Either art or mirror can go there or on console. Bring in some more green and I like the round mirror. Mariana

Eric did you see anywhere that it stated is has a resizing option? The biggest reason I want to use this one, I already have the freebie and I figure it would integrate well with 5.0. Plus it's not too expensive. I figure the better ones are for professionals, really, not for an amatures (ok, how do you spell this word?) like me. Thanks for the input, Mona

If the door was a standard sized French unit, the panels should be reusable. It is also likely, if the French section was standard, that the sidelites were the custom aspect of the sizing and are probably held together but some type of corrugated fastener. If that is the case, they should be able to be separated. You will damage all the cladding in the process, but you can either have it onsite wrapped again or order new cladding for the frame. If the doors are standard, ordering the new frame might be the easier option.

It is much harder than one would think. The best thing to do would be to have his parents take some measurements and buy a current pattern that reflects those measurements. I've sewn for 50 years and I wouldn't attempt to grade patterns (changing them from one size to another) For instance, his chest measurement might be two inches bigger than a 4 year old, but certainly his neck *won't be,* and those two things have to be combined. Little kids' bodies change, too. A toddler pattern (can go up to 4T) is shorter, and sized to accommodate a diaper. Children's sized patterns are taller, maybe a touch slimmer, and labeled without the T. They could send you clothing that fits, and you can try to adjust the patterns to match the clothing. Why not just buy a new pattern? a See and sew pattern is $2.99, but even a full priced pattern would more than save the cost of wasted fabric for something that doesn't fit. Patterns are almost always in sale someplace. I would make a pattern from scratch rather than grade one to fit, 90% of the time.
