Though I like the idea of being able to aim blinds upward to bring in light, I'm with Beverly on removing them, and "frosting" the glass. A less expensive way to do so is use clear contact paper. It appears frosted on glass. They do make a "frosted" contact paper that is textured if you prefer that. Both would be much easier to keep clean than your blinds.
Here's an example where someone used clear contact paper to make a design with, but you could use it solid and get an over all frosted look.

My neighbor has the frosted window covering. She's rather artistic and was able to shape hers to look like a wave. Since she's right next door I can attest to the fact that you cannot see inside! My husband doesn't really like this look though. And he would insist that when he's in the bathroom it's COMPLETELY covered!!! So, not sure I can go that route, but I am definately going to look at HD and maybe can convince him to at least try it.

The picture of the roman valance is the look I like. But, as a simple valance, not a roman shade. I cannot sew that well! Hence, only a simple valance or simple scallop.

I come from the opposite side of the spectrum and very much like the use of valances. I think the frosted windows are fine, but prefer the added color and interest a pretty valance can offer. The pictures posted by Beverly are a perfect example, without the valances, the first 2 windows look drab or boring or unfinished but the 3rd window is much prettier. I realize the wall color is helping the cause as well, however, the first two windows need something and frosted glass isn't doing it (for me anyways). It doesn't have to be anything super ornate or over done. Just something simple with a pattern that has the colors of the room in it to tie it all together.

I didn't mean I didn't like the idea of the valance. I always like fabric at windows. I'm a seamstress and my specialty is sewing for the home. Window treatments are my favorite things to create.

Have you looked into top down-bottom up cellular shades? They are great for leaving a sight/light space at the top of the window. I miss mine, but have no neighbors....

I tried but can't get a decent picture because the vanity is on other side and if I do an angle the shower is in the way! Look at Beverly's first picture. Although my bath surround is white, it is pretty close to what I have. Thanks!!! (even the one with the blue valance is similar)

Are you sure that the frosted film doesn't let you look inside, even at night with the lights on?

decormyhomepls, it truly depends on your personal style what type of valance would work. Without knowing that I can only suggest what I like. Which is the type that looks like an open roman shade.
nosoccermom, I can only comment on what I have, which is the frosted contact paper that is textured and no, you can't see through it. I would think the clear contact paper which appears frosted, you'd only be able to see blurred shapes.

I went today to look at model homes and in all the bathrooms they had the valance up to the top of the wall and they were straight across (no gathering) and around the sides of rod. It does look like an open roman shade.
