Soak in the View: Art for the Bath
Make relaxing in the bath even better with an intriguing piece of art by the tub
Do you love relaxing in your bathtub but long for a lovely view out the window? Perhaps a panorama of the ocean or the tops of the trees? While that's not always a possibility, there is a way to add a nice view to your bathroom that does not involve you becoming an exhibitionist. It's making the most of an often-overlooked spot for a work of art: the bathroom. Let's check out the possibilities:
Contemporary canvas. This bathroom has a lot of strong horizontal lines provided by the tiles and the long vanity; the long canvas helps the abstract botanical painting fit right into the room.
Glamorous comic style. This pink glam bathroom certainly amps up all of the usual bathroom fixtures, including the artwork by Sugarluxe.
Bold colors. This bathroom has it all: the view, the painting, and the bubble chandelier hanging overhead (what a fun choice for a bath!) The painting provides the only burst of bright color in the room.
Clever composition. This neat arrangement of John Derian decoupage plates completely changes the feel of this bathroom.
Spaces for change. Shelves provide a spot not only for paintings and photographs, but also for vases, other glassware and sculpture.
Landscapes. This bathtub alcove, combined with the oil painting centered in its arch, draws one over to get a closer look.
Serious frames. Not technically artwork, this oversized mirror has an artistic and ornate frame that makes it function as much more than your average mirror.
Nautical images. A black-and-white sailing photo fits right into this masculine room. This almost keeps us from noticing that the bed and the tub are in the same room (and subsequently wondering how that works out).
Child-like art. Children's art is a fun choice for the bath. In this bright white room, it adds a fun burst of color. All that seems to be missing from the image is a yellow rubber ducky.
Upon closer inspection, I'm not so sure these were actually done by children though. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section.

Black-and-white water-related photography: A large black-and-white photograph of lily pads is an appropriate and thought-provoking choice for over the tub.
