Thank you all for the info. We purchased this through our local independent appliance dealer which has given us exceptional service in the past *knock on wood*. I have a service call set up for Wednesday but today I went snooping around Lowe's to see the inner tub area on other SS bosch DWs. They all had that crimp too and it seems solid when I press on mine but I'll have the guy double check. Despite people saying it's a waste I typically pay for extended service contracts since we have 4 kids and want our appliances to be serviceable until they're well into old age. What led me to this dishwasher was the better rack (the bottom just doesn't roll out like a shot like our old GE but it does pull out straight), the sensor wash/sani rinse, the improved cleaning (other than those few items this DW tackles grime like crazy), the adjustable top rack and as an afterthought the quiet volume. I do have the high loop under the cabinet and it was that way for the previous dishwasher. This was a floor model but it had only been on the floor for a month so it could just be a manufacturing defect. Thankfully my service contract is handled in house via the appliance place which contracts with very reputable companies from my own experience. I also own a bosch washing machine that has been doing 2-3 large loads for the past five years straight (diapers, clothes, kitchen cloth) and have not had any issues so we felt we could trust the brand to consider a model after research. Like I said I narrowed it down to the two bottom rung Mieles and 3 Bosch models.

My 2¢ on this: I'm inclined to preach about making repairs and not sending workable appliances to the landfill or recycling. Your existing DW might just have a plugged line. However, wanna guess what I did when my early-1998 SHU3xx model stopped working back in 2012? I took the discount for a replacement dishwasher. Maybe an easy decision for me as a DIY project. It really is as easy as Dan1888 says. So the installation should not be expensive if you have to pay for it. A repair will require pulling the DW out, disconnecting and reconnecting, and then putting it back in, anyway. Beyond that, my on-line research back in late 2012 was that Bosch DWs and other higher quality DW brands had average expected lifespans of 12 years but some lesser brands were only lasting 7 years on average. (Lots of posting here with much gnashing of teeth and tales of woe about DWs back then, too.) You have already replaced a motor at seven years, so it is hard to say when you might need another one. My Bosch was 15 years old and had never needed any work. It might have continued chugging along after the board replacement. Eventually, it would have needed other repairs. For instance, replacing the detergent dispenser door when the latch springs wore out. Then a new door seal. Eventually, a new pump, etc. I decided to skip the hassle and bought an SHE55xx series model as the replacement. As far as I could tell, the new one did not have any more electronics to break than the old one. However, the boards are supposedly better built now. The boards from the late 90's and early 2000's were kind of on the cheap side all across the appliance industry. With some legal pushing, Bosch owned up to the issue and upgraded its boards while instituting the program for the board replacement/discounted new units. (Whirlpool also had problems with its DW boards. According to news reports, DWs made back then by Whirlpool were blamed for several kitchen fires. Whirlpool chose to fight with customers. AFAIK, that fight is still going on.) Anyway, my replacement SHE55 runs noticeably quieter than the old SHU. (More sound proofing.) The new one does take 15 to 20 minutes longer for the regular cycles than the old one did (varies a bit between loads.) The new one has more capacity. Also, the new one allows raising and lowering the upper rack, a feature which I find very useful. (I cannot recall if the SHU4xx series had that feature or not.) So, despite my preferences for keeping appliances running, I have been pleased with the replacement.

I have a specific dilemma on this same subject! Or there is Bosch... The bosch is what I originally considered but again, confusing to pick. No fair way to compare other then just picking a random 500 or 800 series and just going with it. Lowes only carrys a limited selection, if any, on display. With the updates for 2017, I've found lot of the online information is outdated. They had a thermadore open box deal that I would of jumped on but the model had a history of leak complaints so it was a pass. Also almost considering the miele with the auto door open dry for $1,400 and leak detection. The auto door is the only reason why I MAY consider blowing budget but I get torn because most people seem to do fine with bosch's drying set up..by just planning so they open the door after its done. (if I understand correctly) I like that miele is built for longevity but We plan on being in a different house before 6 or so years, if that factors in.

Thermador produced their dishwashers first. Later, Bosch bought Thermador and patterned their dishwashers after the Thermador design. I've owned the Sapphire for many years and love it. I have had the E15 error come up recently. The tech replaced the switch/sensor in the bottom that prevents the machine from flooding the floor. It was old at that point. Works perfectly again.
