Best value-performance dishwasher
Comments (35)I know appliances today aren't made like they used to be. But it makes me wonder why? I mean, there was competition even back then! All those name brands even then were competing with each other. Why would the appliance manufacturer NOT want an early fail back then so the consumer would have to go out and purchase a new appliance? Surely they realized that by making a product to last 20 plus years that they would lose all those customers for the many years their appliance continued to work. I have a four year old Whirlpool DW and I was reading the manual because the rinse aid dispenser was leaking from the cap.......I started looking at the warranty and was surprised to see a couple of things. It has a ONE YEAR full warranty Second year limited warranty on "wash module" "In the 2nd year from the date of purchase, when this dishwasher is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with the product. Whirlpool Corporation will pay for FSP replacement parts for any part of the wash module if defective in materials or workmanship" 2nd through 5th year limited warrant on electronic control system and nylon-coated dishracks "In the 2nd through the 5th years from the date of purchase, when this dishwasher is operated and maintained according to instructions attached to or furnished with this product, Whirlpool will pay for the FSP replacement parts for the following components if defective in materials or workmanship: the electronic control system, the upper and lower dishracks (for models with nylon-coated dish racks)" Twenty year warranty on tub and inner door should it fail to contain water, if defective in materials or workmanship. Service must be provided by a Whirlpool designated service company....See MoreWhat do you think of Thermador Dishwashers
Comments (2)Search for reviews of Bosch dishwashers -- they are basically the same, made by the same company. I have a pair of them and bought them because the Thermador were a little less thanthe Bisch for a panel ready DW -- times two. I have the 6 cycle model. My feeling was that the 2 db difference wouldn't be noticed as much as a good installation job and I wouldn't use all the cycles as it was. I generally use only one or two, but I have at least tried 5 of the 6. It could be a 3 cycle and I'd be happy with it. Quiet and good cleaning were most important, and I got those. Also, as I've said here before, my Thermador fridge and freezer colums and the DWs are the only appliances in my kitchen that haven't required service -- not even to check a rattle or adjust something....See MoreBosch 4-cycle dishwasher same as Thermador 4-cycle?
Comments (5)The BSH rep (Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau parent co) told me the different models mgith call things something different ot have different ways of getting there. I'm not familiar with some of the terms you're throwing out, but I've never used the delay start -- easy enough to start it before I go to bed and forget about it, but it is quiet enough I don't mind running it as soon as it is full. Whenever that is. I have a higher Thermador and the upper rack adjustment is manual. If that's what you're talking about, I don't understand how it could be otherwise. And I don't know what the eco sensor is other than a marketing name for something. The 30 min quick wash is probably like what I have on mine -- will run in 30 min or less. Run a light wash and then cancel and drain when it is done washing and starts to dry. The quick wash doesn't sry at all, so I figure that's about the same thing. Red floor light -- I look for it sometimes, but it's biggest attraction is so friends and family can ask you what it's for and you can tell them the DW is running. Four cycles vs 4 cycles don't strike me as that different. FOr anything you are giving up, there is probably a similar feature or a different one that's a tradeoff. What feaetures do you need in a DW? Start with that. Get what you need and don't get caught up in the hype....See MorePlease Help! Double Oven and Best Value Dishwasher
Comments (3)Bosch is a better oven than any of the choices mentioned. Frigidaire/Electrolux seem too be price obsessed (meaning they want to always want to have the cheapest of a given category...which makes me nervous). Kitchenaid, we have experiences issues with self cleaning. Steam clean is not the most useful. For light soils its OK at best. For heavy baked on stuff, it may loosen it up a bit, but we have had complaints from customers expecting more from it. Electrolux and Frigidaire are the same company. The dishwashers are mostly made in an Electrolux factory in Italy. This means condensation drying (similar to bosch and basic miele, but not as effective). Kitchenaid makes a decent dishwasher that will dry a little better, but I recommend bosch or miele to most of my clients....See MoreNicole
