what hardwood flooring would you put with Dark walnut cabinets?
Comments (0)Can any one help me on this? Do any of you have pictures? I have walnut cabinets and trim through out the house, and don't plan on painting the trim. I may paint the cabinets at a later date....See MoreDark hardwood floors...what color furniture?
Comments (18)Well hope I'm not too late but....we installed Brazillian Walnut in our kitchen and dining room and we've been really happy with it. I don't have the problem of everything showing on this floor any more than on the oak we have in some other areas. The planks have some variation in color so maybe that's why. This is a very solid hard (like teak) wood. We got it at Lumber Liquidators (Bella wood) and installed it ourselves, but they have installers they can recommend too (if you don't have one already). The first is a more recent pic, the floor is 10 years old. One huge plus with this particular floor is that it is not stained, it's this color all the way through so it will always look like this. When the time comes all we have to do is lightly sand it and revarnish. No staining involved. Furniture wise, our house insn't real large, so we just have pieces we love, an old farm table I've refurbished and an old cabinet both painted white. I don't think a floor type necessarily limits you, especially if it's wood....See MoreAny regrets choosing dark hardwood floors?
Comments (94)I had med-dark floors and what made them look dirty was the sheen! I believe chinchette. They were engineered wood and they were so smooth you could see footprints in sunlight with CLEAN feet right out of the bath not even wet. Drove me nuts. I've been wanting to go with real wood (handscraped with a little tonal variation to hide dings/scratches). I may consider engineered if I can get it in a matte finish, because the engineered held up beautifully in my previous kitchen, and I'm worried about a true hardwood in that area. It will be one or the other, I love wood floors. My friend had a darker almost espresso floor, now those you had to dust all the time to keep looking clean....See MoreDark Hardwood Floors -- Trendy or Classic?
Comments (48)I hope that floor finishong techniques have progressed since the last time those pickled floors were "in"!!! We were home shopping during that time, and the finish on every floor we saw was horrible! I have had theseinexpensive hickory floors for 5 years now, complete with " cabin grade, (no warranty)" finish, and I cannot complain about them at all. Everyone who comes in comments on them, and my realtor cousin's FIRST comment was, "These floors alone would sell this house!"..... So maybe they are trendy....all I know is, I like them!...See MoreNothing Left to Say
