The whites and creams were showing off on Saturday:

GREAT WHITE

LIME FROST (Blooming much earlier than in the past)

WHITE PERFECTION

Old Cream Seedling out of LEONARD SAUTER

ROARING FORK

GOTTA HOBBIT (Not sure about this one. It is a reverse bitone, with great plant habit, but I am not sold on the color).

NOW AND ZEN

EINSTEIN

PINK COTTON CANDY

Nice group of whites. Seeding looks good. I don't see the reverse bitone color on GOTTA HOBBIT. Wouldn't reverse be the petals are lighter and the sepals darker? Maybe I'm not understanding the reverse bitone.

Cindy - I would love to take a photo of the blue and white bed. But it's mostly white this year, with nine plants in all. I set seed on all the blues last year and wore them out. Asian Fairy Bluebird has two wimpy scapes with hardly any buds, and Certulean Warbler is refusing to scape at all this year. Jitterbug Blues has only one scape (albeit wonderfully budded and branched) out of six fans. Orchid Elegance is the only blue with multiple scapes and more than a few buds. Everything in that bed was previous grown in pots in part shade. Planting was done in the fall, which is not optimum in my climate. Next year that garden should be fabulous, but this year not so much. I probably can manage some photos of some of the blue and white blooms together. I would love to see a photo of your black and white bed. Mantis - Crazy Ivan grows like gangbusters here, and I know it does well in Kentucky. I don't know how it performs in Ohio. Debra

LOL Rita. I haven't had a deer problem lately. I put down some Milorganite (sp?) and spraying what buds I do have left with a mixture of rotten eggs, water, garlic, and hot sauce. I've been changing the mixture each time I spray leaving one or 2 ingredients out or adding something new that way they won't get used to it. Of course it could be that they know they ate everything they wanted and know there is no reason to revisit LOL. I got another bed finished to plant some I had in pots and do you know what. That bed has about 5 or 6 empty spots LOL But, there is always next spring for more dl's. I don't want to plant any past August and most places now aren't shipping til Sept or Oct. I planted some in Oct last year and they struggled and half didn't even send up scapes this year. Andrea

I've never seen Dabo Girl before and that's a real pretty one. I don't know what you mean about Outrageous not liking the heat as it looks pretty good to me. It is registered as a reverse bitone with the petals being lighter than the sepals. It only looks like the picture on the AHS registry first thing in the morning. It does not hold that pattern throughout the day and it looks like the above picture. One has to look closely to see the reverse bitone, but it is generally imperceptible. I think that it has bought a ticket out of the garden, even though it's performance is better than registered.

I like Great White. It has a great form with the ruffles and a clean greenish white color in your photo. Now and Zen has a cute name and a bright sunny look. I also like a couple of your pinks: Einstein and Pink Cotton Candy..............Maryl

I, too love them whites.My Lime Frost bloomed a month earlier, too. I like ROARING FORK and Pink Cotton andy, too.

Lime Frost and White Perfection look almost identical. I think the sepals are slightly darker than the petals on Hobbit. I really like the form on Roaring Fork. How are its plant habits?

GREAT WHITE is one of my favorite parents. Big stout kids. Your seedling is very nice too. I would cross it to GW for sure!

ROARING FORK typically has three branches and 20 buds. It typically blooms for a long time. Rarely do I get more than one bloom a scape. RF and NILE CRANE are extremely similar and I grew both. NILE CRANE left the garden last year as RF was taller, better branched and was a bigger flower.
