Can it really be winding down. It will be interesting to see how late you get blooms, especially since that was your goal, I've tried too, but some of the very late bloomers just aren't that nice looking, but I know you found some good looking ones. I still love Be Fruitful and Multiply and Blood Sweat and Tears is a standout. The orientals are so nice, glad I caught the "bulb lily crazies" from you!!!! They are great and I've ordered many more for fall planting. Back to Daylilies!!! I love the watermark on Sweet Isabella. All great blooms.

Cindy- I can tell you that if the flower blooms VL for real, then I am alot less picky about what the flowers looked like. A daylily that would be tossed around here as not pretty enough if it bloomed the first two weeks of July, would be treasured if it bloomed the first week in August.

I stumbled upon the Dale Thomas lates and that should be working for me. Plus the added bonus is that they are very pretty flowers. The ones from last year are most just blooming now as in FFO and some not yet. I pay no attention to when the Dale Thomas lates that I got this spring are blooming as last year the same thing happened, they bloomed too early and need the year to settle in.

When I bought my Isabel Hibbard intros I told her that my daylilies were spectatular in July and a disaster for August as no bloom. I wanted August blooms and later. She assured me I would have them.

I haven't had daylilies such a long time before this as to say exactly about bloom times. But From what I am seeing now late bloomers here start about now, last week in July. Early lates started this week already. So we will see how it goes.

My inventory can't be that high. I only wish I had the room for a thousand daylilies, 2,000 if I had the room. But I have a normal sized yard and I have lots and lots of other things besides my approx 400 daylilies, not the least of which is my 200 roses.

And what would be going on your wish list? Do share!

I planted 11 (I think) new ones from Karol this spring but most not blooming yet. I know last years almost ALL bloomed last year so maybe they will bloom later, I just don't remember exactly when they bloomed last year. I know they just about all rebloomed but that was later in the year.

As to the Westbournes, the color on TERESA MY BEST FRIEND just about glows in person. Can't quite get it on camera. These Westbournes I have been posting that are blooming well for me are mostly the ones I planted last fall. The ones from this spring, some have had afew flowers but nothing much. I expect that next year I will get a really great show from them all.

There it is again Westbourne's Mom Kirbys Plum Pudding. I hear it calling to me every time you post it...buy me....buy me...LOL

Andrea, no buying of daylilies :-(( Save money for the deer fencing or buying the daylilies will not matter cause you never see the bloom. Not unless you can find that pefect dog for keeping them away.

LOL Rita. I haven't had a deer problem lately. I put down some Milorganite (sp?) and spraying what buds I do have left with a mixture of rotten eggs, water, garlic, and hot sauce. I've been changing the mixture each time I spray leaving one or 2 ingredients out or adding something new that way they won't get used to it.

Of course it could be that they know they ate everything they wanted and know there is no reason to revisit LOL.

I got another bed finished to plant some I had in pots and do you know what. That bed has about 5 or 6 empty spots LOL

But, there is always next spring for more dl's. I don't want to plant any past August and most places now aren't shipping til Sept or Oct. I planted some in Oct last year and they struggled and half didn't even send up scapes this year.

Andrea- Glad to hear that the deer have not been back. I would still consider that dog if I were you. All those things you are doing seem to work for people until one day they get up and it no longer worked and the deer had come overnight and eaten up the daylily buds. Thank goodness that I have no deer around here!

Well, you have been busy and a new bed sounds like a great addition to the yard. I am sure you will figgure out something to do with those empty spots LOL!

Its too hot now for any place down south to ship until September.
