Hancock & Moore leather 'City Sofa' -- I have questions
Comments (44)I need help - I recently purchased 2 HM recliners - it's only been a few months but so far I really like them, though we have had an issue already with the cushions. The cushions we got were not the same ones that the chairs had in the store. But they are replacing them. After months of contemplating purchasing the Journey sofa & bringing home leather samples, all Class 2 (document and cavalier) we finally made the purchase this past Fri. night - bought the Journey Sofa in Cavalier Hunter Green - so excited-put the required 25% down and was told it would be 4 mos till it would be delivered. I was willing to wait that long because this is the sofa and color we really want. Unfortunately, today I got a call from the store and they said the leather I picked can only go on the City Sofa. I can only chose from Document she told me-otherwise if I want the Cavalier it will cost me $$$$$$ - I can't believe I find out after 2 mos of shopping at this store. I feel like it's bait and switch. Does anyone know where I can get the Journey Sofa with the Cavalier Hunter Green without paying out the wazoo!!! This shouldn't be so confusing and misleading. Now i need to stop the transaction and start the whole process over. Up until reading this no one at the store I've been working with ever mentioned this "married" issue of the leater and the sofa's. I'm so disappointed...See MoreAnyone have sofa and chairs in the same fabric?
Comments (20)I agree about keeping it the same working better with a less patterned fabric. I would go with a very subtle pattern such as a tone on tone because I am always afraid that a wide field of a solid color will look ruined by the slightest blemish. I like the idea of keeping my decorating options open with accessories and paint. If one gets too specific with more permanent features, it locks you in and can look more dated. I find the same true with clothes....See MoreAnyone have a Mega Sofa or a Mega Couch?
Comments (5)The photo looks to be a curved sofa and 2 large ottomans pulled up. Many manufactures offer curved sofas and these type ottomans. Take a look at Omnia Leather. They offer 100% top grain leather for much less than this style priced in the bonded. Omnia offers a wide range of leather colors. Their style that appears to be identical is the Canyon. The Canyon does not come in a bonded leather, only top grain cowhide....See MoreHelp! My mid-century couch looks great but isn't comfy! What to do?
Comments (10)with sofas, one really needs to sit on them, and be prepared that almost everything new deemed "affordable" (whhich is not cheap at all btw) will be of worse quality than it was say even 20 years ago so I'd say -either be prepared to pay more, but also go to stores and try to sit first and see whether works for you since seating is very personal..depends on one's height etc..you might also be lucky and they'll have sale, or even better- floor models they want to get rid of, etc. Check Room and Board, Design Within Reach(can't get over the name lol..but the quality's nice), different stores carrying good imports from Europe..Cantoni for example..will be very different price yet who knows, one might get lucky. Or even very lucky. or. If you're inclined to invest your time rather than money(which is what I usually prefer to do)-go to vintage stores, even flea markets if you have good ones in the area..some sellers refurbish vintage mcm, and happen to do it quite well. Then you'll be at West Elm price, even lower maybe, but much more superior quality yet another option -your local Craigslist. Saw amazing mcm couches there many times ..pity that I don't have where to put them lol. actually any site that will have option for local pick up is worth checking, but one needs to search by area. these would be Etsy, Chairish, Everything But The House.. I'd take my time in searching for the right sofa. and I might go for a different one-say fabric as opposed to leather. So it'll be purposeful, interrsting mismatch, yet within same sensibility, and with propotions that will have similarity. I spent my childhood with mostly mcm furniture and it's just as comfy as other furniture..when made well. Again sit on it first. Otherwise you play sort of roulette-will it be comfy? will it be not? Whatever's good for hundred reviewers might have absolutely no relation to me when it comes to seating....See Moremelle_sacto is hot and dry in CA Zone 9/
