Screen Resolution Issue & Pogo Games

Hi,

I’ve
been having a screen resolution problem.

I had been using a program that ravencajun
mentioned long ago now: resolution changer sx2. That was installed on both user
accounts and had worked great, changing the native 1280 x 1024 res. to 1024 x
768. The latter res. is much easier for my mom, esp. when playing her Pogo
games – and that’s most important here.

Well,
after a major computer hardware upgrade, RC (resolution changer), which was saved from the other HD, won't allow me to change the default resolution. It needs to be changed each time. I tried going into RC’s “configure pre-sets” option, but I get an
error message: Run-time error 381: Invalid property array index. It didn’t used
to do that!

So
I thought I’d download the program all over again. But I always
run into obstacles. I can’t get it to download at all from cnet. (It won’t
download automatically, and where’s the cnet download button??)

I download it from softpedia but FF blocks it because it “may contain a virus
or spyware.” Well, I doubt it has such, since it had been working fine, but I’m half afraid to unblock the download scanner
just in case.

And if I go to the publisher’s website to download, they just redirect me to
cnet!

FWIW, I tried simply changing
the Windows desktop resolution to the desired one. Simple, right? But it leaves an inch of black, empty space on the top and
bottom of the monitor, shortening the viewable area. And the monitor’s own
controls can’t adjust that, i.e. can’t stretch things vertically to fit. (I
spent half an hour playing with those settings and trying to get them back to
what they were after doing so.)

I tried going back to the native 1280 x 1024 resolution and then using the ‘ease
of access’ setting to increase to 125%, but that won’t help with the viewing of
Pogo. (As mentioned above getting the Pogo game to appear larger is basically THE
reason for needing at least the 1024 x 768 setting.)

And BTW the browser ‘zoom’ settings don’t affect the game size. (Perhaps an
add-on that someone here knows about will ‘zoom’ the game area?)

Summary:

Can’t
get RC to configure defaults as before.
Can’t re-download RC or do so without it being blocked.
Can’t change Windows res. settings without it vertically cropping the viewing
area.
Can’t manually adjust the monitor’s settings to stretch the content vertically
to fit.
Can’t get browser controls that I know of to increase the content of the
(java-based) Pogo games.

Any
suggestions that might help me achieve my goal (having a larger Pogo game size
(i.e. larger than the 1280 x 1024 resolution would display) without a need to
manually change screen resolution every time and without it affecting the
monitor) are welcome.
