I've had my neon pothos for a year and it's never changed color. It's still nice and neon! I grow mine in water though. I keep it 10 ft? Maybe From my south window on the ground and it's been doing fine

It's possible that Epipremnum aureum 'Neon' (aka "Neon Pothos") will fade to a light green if grown in low-light conditions, but it hasn't happened to mine.

On the other hand... Philodendron hederaceum 'Lemon-Lime' starts out with red-gold leaves, which turn to yellow and then light green as they age. In low-light conditions the transition is definitely much faster and the green somewhat darker (though I haven't seen it get to "dark" green). Given that E. aureum and P. hederaceum are often confused with each other, maybe that's the source of the "two varieties" in the 2014 thread you mention? Just a hypothesis...

I have a job taking care of interior plants including neon pothos, often in low light conditions. None are darker than yours. They should be fine.

I've had mine all summer in a unobstructed southern exposure and it's looking pretty good but not growing fast. I read that they use growth inhibitors to keep pothos compact and not lanky.

I thought that it was just an old-fashioned Boston Fern. I have had it for a few years. I give it that full southern exposure and good waterings at least once a week with a large tray that I put water in

same family group, Bostons are a darker green and slightly thicker fronds.
