Tropic brown, tan brown are two others. There are very dark golds like Juparana Tobacco or Paradiso which might work. You might also consider something like teak wood. Etching leaves white marks. On a brown marble it will be very visible. For fun, I got a two buck pink marble tile from the box store and had "science" when I was trying to decide about counters. Science consisted of pouring a small qty of lemon-lime soda on a bit of the marble and seeing if I could get it off before it etched. The answer was NO! I would suggest you spend a couple bucks to get a tile similar to what you want to use and have your own science project.

Wow! For temporary- you're really going gung ho! (I didn't want to say anything about your green counters)..., but is it possible to get reasonably priced temporary counters? That's why I was suggesting tieing in the green with the blue in the fabric. Cuz you've got a lot of counter! However, don't know where you live, but here in the Vancouver, BC area, there are tons of counters on Craigslist- don't know how realistic it is that they would fit your kitchen, but it doesn't hurt to spend some time browsing. Also, I've never used vinyl tiles, but those I know that have, have cursed them every day! They come up and feet trip on them all the time. Would it be possible to get a vinyl roll remnant? We put Tarkett fibrefloor down in our basement laundry room- beauty of that is, it doesn't get glued down, just lays on the floor. Don't make it so nice that you'll never want to renovate! :>) The really neat thing about painting as a temporary solution is that all rules and restrictions go out the window, and you can really think 'outside the box'. I'm getting excited for you. Guess you have to start with whatever you decide to put on the counters, then floor, but I'm thinking a beautiful butter yellow would be nice... Can hardly wait to see what you end up doing- sounds like fun!

There is a 9" overhang on that side. We have a veneer panel for the entire overhang side. There are no plans that I'm aware of for drywall. Our previous cabs were 3" deeper than the new ones, so the wall fills in the hole in the floor tiles and gives us a whole extra cabinet due to pipes being brought down into the basement. Our granite slab is definitely large enough and it doesn't affect anything that we can see. The small l-shaped kitchen and island sit in a fairly large room. All the passageways to other rooms have the same width. I have an extra 4' x 8' piece of veneer panel that can be cut to cover both ends fully. But I thought something chunky would be good. I have frame and panel very plain shaker doors. I could order door end panels in this size. I could even bring a woodworker in here to bling up the whole thing with moldings and trim. DH wanted everything super-plain. This 'feature' is my chance to get something nicer. What would look the best? Budget isn't a problem.

That's going to look great! Is there any way to simulate 80" long? It looks like you might be able to put a leaf in your current table? Or if no leaf at least pull it apart to 80"? Or, if not that, move your current table down so it anchors one end of the 80" and find a big piece of cardboard to add to the other end? I agree your current table looks too small, but 80" is 1/3 larger and looks like it might overwhelm the sofa. I'm so visual that for me it would help to somehow get a better feel for the 80". Even if you move the table down to where one end of the 80" would go and hold the tape measure up to the other side. The width doesn't seem like a big change so not a big deal there. I would want the table to go to the end of the arms of the sofa, but maybe not quite so far past them. ? I'd also see how that measures up against the windows behind the table. Might help with the decision. Good luck!
