Problem with free standing tub filler
Comments (2)I'm a little gun-shy as far as trying another brand that I'm not familiar with. When I originally researched this, I went with the Cheviot tub filler based on not finding complaints. Boy, was that stupid. Because in hindsight, I didn't find glowing reviews either. The Cheviot tub filler continues to run full force for about 6 seconds after shutting off the water and then drips for another 10 seconds, leaving a puddle of water on the floor behind the tub. The wand does the same thing. According to Cheviot, this is normal. I'll be damned if I'm setting out a bowl to catch dripping water every time I use my brand new tub. I have had good luck with Kohler, Moen, Grohe, and to a lesser extent, Hansgrohe. I intend to stick with something from those brands. There is a comparable filler by Toto that's a stretch but probably no more expensive than building the pedestal, topping it with quartz, re-doing the wainscot, painting, buying a roman deck set etc. I need to find some glowing reviews about Toto!...See MoreTrying to find a harmless bath tub under $400
Comments (71)My grandma eats sweets including homemade pies with 1-2 c sugar per pie, loves sweets in general, eats too many fried foods for my taste, doesn’t eat paint chips, bathes in a porcelain tub, and was JUST moved to a nursing facility this year since she’s losing her mobility (mind is still intact) and in another month she will be celebrating her 100th birthday. You don’t have to live in a bubble to live a long life. Much of your life expectancy is predetermined in large part by genetics. Use common sense and don’t lick the bathtub....See Morehot tub virgin
Comments (5)I'd say your best bet is to avoid all spa sales guys as they are all liars....HA HA Ozone is pretty much a part of most spas. Ozone usually requires a minimal amount of chlorine as it does not stay in the water long. For sound issues, you'll need a spa that is pretty well insulated and unfortunately, those ones are usually considered upper quality spas. Not a negative thing when you look at overall spa issues. You can certainly avoid the high end units and get quality. Hotsprings is a pretty quiet spa. Dimension One is too but it is pretty pricey. But, it's high quality. Those two typically require proprietary parts when they break so those costs will be higher. If you can find a decent spa with Balboa controls, that is a good quality operation system too. While I've not seen an above ground spa on salt, I think the Jacuzzi sales guy was high. A salt system on a pool generates chlorine and is regulated. DUH! Your best bet is to let the spa folks here chime in and you'll know what to buy. I fix them, hate them all as none are worth what you pay but if was forced to buy one, I'd go with the Dimension One as I rarely fix those. Stay away from the big box retailers and what they have to offer and in my own personal opinion, stay away from Cal Spas because they are the Leslies of above ground spas. Too many things private labeled that you can only buy from them. I think the crane is your only option. But hey, the kids will love seeing it....See Morehas anyone tried non-toxic hot tub maintenance kits?
Comments (4)hmm, vitamin C is pH down? Baking soda is pH Up? Vitamin C will lower the pH but its an iron stain remover. Baking soda is an alkalinity increaser. So ahhUp's price vs a 12 lb. bag of Arm and Hammer is $8 in Walmart. Lol. "OH BY THE WAY. The EPA requires us to recommend periodic shocks of Chlorine or Bromine (classified as pesticides by the way! err!). We say use your common sense, don't bathe in any water that is suspect - including chemical soup! " No the EPA doesn't and no, neither are a pesticide but rather a sanitizer. Algaecides are pesticides. Peroxide will burn your skin. Peroxide is an oxidizer, not a sanitizer. Because it uses peroxide as a shock, I suspect it is a biaguinide based system, which may be fine, but costs more. Sea salt doesn't do any more than regular pool salt would.
