It does seem like the first 3 tiles have way too much movement and pattern on their own for a granite kitchen. The mockup really draws the eye to the floor. but you would never really try to "match" your counters and floors except in color families (warm, golds, cool grays etc)--otherwiseyour cabs will look like the filling in a cookie sandwich! And it doesn't look particularly cottage-y. I would hope to try to wait until counters are in....That will help you really see what the granite does and how or why you will want to set it off. It might suggest a whole new approach. And you'll get a better feel for how the kitchen plays off the adjacent wood floors. The granite and counters look like they will be beautiful--no regrets there--so cut yourself some slack and let the other pieces fall into place. Or at least, I would never be able to pick from these photos, so maybe that's why I am thinking, slow down!

Well, got my Brookhaven quote 19-22K for frameless. 24-27K for inset. OUch. We have a decent sized galley kitchen with no uppers on one side. But she's reworking the layout so maybe she made some changes. I'm going to meet with her tomorrow to see what's she's done. I went to check out some ShowPlace cabinets also. I almost felt like I was more updated on the company that the kitchen showroom selling them. I knew about the new designs and colors lol. I was not blown over by the display they had (they did have a kitchen set up), but I'm not sure if it was the cabinet's fault or maybe the guy just did a careless job with the details. I think the display was a few years old at least too since he said they've changed the side mounted pull outs to undermounted and had made a few other changes. Wood sided doors and free glazes sounds good to me... Man, so many choices. My neighbor is going with Quality cabinets...her sample looks really nice (there's spending a fortune between the kitchen, bath, hutch, entertainment center). My mom got Crystal cabinets about 13 years ago and hers still look great too. And my soapstone guy wants to give me a quote for cabinets too (custom made in CA)... I think he would do a great job, but I'm very hesitant about having a CA finish instead of one from out of state. aaaaaaaaa !

Thanks for the links to how to upload photos..I'm not too excited about yet another subscription to use an external site for my photos just to do this..The "test" page brings up a "browse" box which I assumed allowed you to pull up your image, but when I actually went to post, only the URL box showed up. I'll have to look into this a little more to see if there is anyway to avoid using another service. KitchenAddict & Circuspeanut - I Love your kitchens! KitchenAddict, if I ever get these posted, you'll see that we alomost have the same countertop, faucet, and all of us are even using white roller shades! (Tip- They can be hung backwords so you don't see the roll but the opening on the fastener is at the bottom so it could fall out easier. If you don't open and close it a lot, it's well worth it. I'm just super careful when I do it. For me, it's just a quick fix until I figure out what I want to use but considering painting a cool pattern on mine once I get a little further along into the project. I'll share those too as this progresses. Thanks for sharing the photos, they help a lot...Still hoping for more! Would love to see someone who has taken the tile all the way up around the sink window to help me decide.

You are right about the colors in the inspiration room rug pulling in all the colors of the room. Somehow I either overlooked it or didn't want to admit it. How does the saying go..."sometimes you don't see the forest because the trees are in the way"...haha... Anyway, I just fell in love with the stone medallion rug and was offered it for a great price because it was a return to a local place that makes them. It isn't the colors that I would have chosen, but I was trying to force it to work. It has no grout because it is made with a compouter controled water jet and all the pieces fit tightly together to form one big solid piece. It's really lovely, but you are right, the colors aren't the best for the design. I have changed original design a bit because I felt it was too Tuscan/Mediterranean for the house. I am using more rustic wood instead of so much cast concrete..though I am using the cast corbles that flank the radius ceiling. I wanted it to feel casual and rustic French, but with an elegant touch of "jewelry" that the crystal and possibly some glass tile accents would bring. The color swatch under the sink is such a bad representation of the vanity color! I attached a photo of a premade cabinet in a similar color and style to what I am having made. The wall color has not been determined yet. Any suggestions?! Thanks again! Your advice is really helping me see this from a different prespective. Did I mention I am a bit over my head with this project? This monster spec house has 10 bathrooms and not enough budget! I'll post some pictures as the project progresses.
