Comments (5)Just about any major carpet store can help you by making a custom runner and not too pricey. The cheapie way would be to get 3 short rugs (all the same) and arrange them evenly following hallway path. Comments (1)Our last home (just sold) had a long hallway...not quite as long as yours though. I had a runner specially cut for the length. Even with a very good quality backing and pad, I could not keep that runner from edging!! I think it was because of the extra long length (and foot traffic). So my suggestion would be to go with multiple runners. As for patterns/solids....that would depend on your artwork and adjoining room colors. Comments (10)Unfortunately, with a 3 year old lab who chases my kids and a creaky floor, we want to put a runner down to help with the noise and prevent it from being all scratched up. The runner on the stairs helped so much, so we like to do something upstairs to help too. CDR Design, our hallway is only 35.5 inches wide. If I get a 14 inch and center it then it will be halfway between two of the bedroom doorways.
