Farmers Market Questions
Comments (17)I used to think, the states that didn't have state income tax usually had higher sales tax. Making money off of tourists more than residents. Now, I think all of the states are trying anything they can to get more money. I always include sales tax in my price on taxable items, then figure it out at home. It makes it much easier and faster at the market. At least Indiana doesn't require the Grower's Permit like Alabama. YET, that will be next. Of course, we still have farmers markets that have NO rules for accurate scales, clean kitchens or anything else. Nobody charges sales tax, even on taxable items. It makes it hard to compete price wise with them. Marla...See MoreWhat are the asters at Andersons Market Indiana?
Comments (1)Mary4b; For a long time I have visited numerous Pick- your own places for Fruits/Vegetables in Laporte and Porter counties in Indiana as well as Berrien in Southwest Michigan- what a way to spend a nice day picking "fresh" healthy and delicious food, all four of my children who are now grown-up have on numerous occasions were the tree-ladder climbers when they were young in picking apples, etc. I still enjoy that area whenever i get a chance to go whether it's Strawberries, Blueberies , or Apples. Please call them for your querry about the Asters- see the attached link. Here is a link that might be useful: Apples and other things At Anderson's...See MoreInauguration Day Parties Anyone?
Comments (34)terri, It must have been good...the plate looked like the dog had licked it clean. I didn't get a slice. It was a come & go as you please thing that lasted from 11:00-11:00. I was only there about an hour...wanted to watch at home in case I got all teary-eyed. All in all the food was pretty good. We had the obligatory Mystic Pizza, meatball subs (messy but good!), clam chowder, chili w/toppings, chippy/dippy munchies, several unknown casseroles that were pretty well gone by the time I arrived, a cold sandwich platter, & tons of cookies, brownies, cakes, etc. I don't know what the evening round of food was since I left shortly after the speech (only 3 minute ride home). /tricia...See MoreGood Morning From Indiana
Comments (17)Took my diuretic pill, couldn't eat for an hour, understood that I was to help prepare income tax returns for low-income folks at the church, but it starts Wed, so did some paper work (of the non-bathroom kind). I was smart enough to bring a banana and a fruit-juice bottle of milk, so am not suffering from food withdrawal too seriouly. Still quite a lot of snow around, but some bare ground showing, and it's about freezing today. Spent some time on computer at the library (only the central is open on Monday, and I seldom go there, as they pay for up to 2 hours parking, but I prefer the free kind, regardless of who's paying). Then was to deliver a young man to a nearby village ... but he'd found another ride ... so did some banking and came out to the library in this village ... ... to bug you guys! In an hour or so, I'll likely go to a local restaurant for a bowl of soup. ole joyful...See Moresleevendog (5a NY 6aNYC NL CA)
