Has Anyone Moved / Relocated A Toilet in a Small Bathroom? PICS!
Comments (31)Since my original post, I did buy the home, closed on the 29th, but that almost didn't happen - one of the main reasons was, tada, this bathroom! During the walkthrough the day before closing I came to find out that they had to replace the shower pan, which meant, they replaced the tiles in the shower, and with them being tiles from the 60s, not only did they not match, but as a repair, it was an AWFUL job! I was pissed and upset to say the least. I couldn't understand why the owners didn't offer me the option of a credit to do the bathroom over as I saw fit, instead of doing this on their own, it just made no sense. We finally got them to give us a credit and I'll be ripping out the entire bathroom. What they paid to have done in there was just a waste of money and almost cost them the sale of the house - and cost them more at the end with the credit given. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with this bathroom. I've taken off that gawd awful accordian door (Freecycle!) I'm looking at tiles, trying to find a 18" vanity base to free up some more floor space, probably put in bypass shower doors as I can't stand getting wet when I turn on the shower as it is now, and there's no light in the shower, so this will bring in natural light. I'm still not sure how to deal with the door. I haven't found a good door to put there. THe original door swong in, door handle on right when it was there. I'm still toying with the idea of a pocket door. I'm going to get an estimate on switching the toilet and vanity, still not sure how much of a difference it would make. Too many things and possible options. Want an elongated toilet - does anyone know who makes some really short toilets when it comes to floor space? Good source for 18" vanities? Vanity there now is 41" thinking about a 36" wide instead, will give a bit more room. So, that's my mini update on this bathroom. I've been almost 3 weeks doing non-stop cleaning. As clean as they people were/appeared, you have NO idea what I've found deep cleaning! This morning, I'm off to paint the closets in the master bathroom - they painted the bedroom, but didn't take the extra step to paint the interior of the 2 closets, so I have a tan bedroom and light green/blue closets!!!...See MoreBathroom Reveal, Thanks to the Bathroom and Remodel Forums!X-Post
Comments (6)Lovely! I like the classic white tile and porcelain and how you used furniture pieces in the bathroom. I love that the storage at the end of the tub has pull-outs that can be reached from the toilet. Your custom sink and backsplash and counter are unique and beautiful. Yours may be the first bathroom sink I have seen in which a small or medium dog could be washed! That is a good thing! I showed your pictures to my DH because I am thinking of classic tiled walls with a chair rail for when we redo our bath in a couple of years. He liked it! I was expecting him to say, "too old fashioned." He did not, he said it looked nice. From him, nice is a compliment. He even liked your rows of listello. I was just at the Tile Shop's site the other day looking at the Hampton tiles because someone was selling some on Craigslist. I am hoping to do as you did and get what I can cheaper there, and fill in the rest from the store. I can see that you worked very hard to secure all of your materials - and then cut the floor tiles to size and culled the Hampton tiles, too! You succeeded very well in getting the look you wanted while saving money along the way. Congratulations, and thank you for the pictures and great detail and supply list....See MoreIdeas for Where to Move First Floor Bathroom?
Comments (4)GADS that is a problem. I can see how long and narrow the sun room is. Maybe rethink it. Put the bath and walk in closet in the office/ bedroom and turn the one half of the sun room into the bedroom / office. Would be nice to have a door to out side. If you put the bath just on the other side of the wall from where it is now the plumbing is mostly in place. I think. You would end up with a hall of sorts. Make it a full bath and put the wall to just past the window edge and the rest walk in. You do not have sizes in your plan so this might be way off base. But it would not need doors to be moved. Or any real structural changes other then interior walls. If you want more wall space close the center corner living to sun room door off.In the picture the door above the fireplace. I would keep a door in the center support wall of the sun room into the bedroom / office. To keep from changing the flow of the house too much. Would make a great guest suite or master for the time when you can not climb the stairs any longer if you plan to live there that long. And good for resale as many do not want to have to go upstairs for their master. I know I do not want to any longer. Love the idea of turning the current half bath to pantry. Hope this makes sense. I can see it but not great at explaining....See MoreShould I move the kitchen or bathroom? Or try to work with what I have
Comments (3)I have a washing machine in my kitchen area and HATE IT! I see in your option 3 you have the stacked washer and dryer in your eating nook. In my household there are always laundry baskets that have to be stored somewhere (which takes up space in an already small kitchen). Just something to think about. Also, is there a reason you need a bathtub on the main floor? If you could get rid of it you'd have alot more space because you wouldn't need such a huge bathroom....See Moresjhockeyfan325
