Slide in range that does not slide all the way to the wall?
Comments (8)On a related note, I posted this in the appliances forum but got no response: I've noticed that all the slide-ins I'm considering offer a metal piece to go behind the stove if you don't have countertop there. Now, obviously from an aesthetics standpoint, countertop is the way to go, but is there any disadvantage to one or the other structually? (I'm doing a majorly small budget redo and life would be a lot simpler if we don't have to do a cutout--we could use prefab then and wouldn't have so many seams to deal with.)...See More30" GE Profile gas slide-in vs. Jenn-Air 30" gas slide-in
Comments (1)I am not sure why you are getting zero response to your question. I too am having a difficult time deciding between two brands. My request for advice wasn't answered either. So without the benefit of others sharing their experience the best way to decide is probably side by side comparison. List the pros and cons of each as you see them and perhaps one will stand out more than the other. I don't have gas but I do have a GE convection wall oven and a GE cooktop. The cooktop has had to have the elements replaced three times in the 8 years I have owned it. The convection oven has had fan issues from the get go. First the fan in the oven started sounding loud and was fixed. Now it has noise coming from an internal fan and you'd think a plane was landing in the kitchen. So, Jenn Air, with it's extra features may be worth the extra expense if it holds up better than the GE. I'd check their repair history. Good luck with your remodel and enjoy your new kitchen!...See MoreMarvin Sliding French Door vs. Sliding Patio Door
Comments (4)I would call in another Marvin Dealer as if you were starting from scratch. Have them come in for a consult and a second estimate. Ask the question and see what he/she says. Even if you’re happy with the first dealer, dealers can charge differently so at least you’ll have something to compare apples to apples with. I actually have two appointments scheduled for Sunrise windows next week, but I’m not actually sure which dealer I’ll end up with. I have to say though both my mother and my sister had the french doors installed. They weren’t Marvins but they were extremely happy with that style....See MoreTo slide or not to slide. Comments (13)Is that a floor vent right in the middle your pictured slider? I don't think that would work well with a door opening the middle like option 2. Is that being moved? I personally would go for option 3, but that's because we have 2 dogs that seem to go in and out a million times a day and a single swinging door is easier to operate than larger sliders. Since you're just moving in, you may want to live with it a while before making a decision, based on furniture placement and actual usage. We lived in a home that had a big slider in the dining room but we never used it because we always just used the kitchen access to the backyard. For us, a large picture window, maybe with sidelights for airflow would have been better and provided more options for window treatments. I find sliders always hard for window coverings as you have to have a lot of wall space to hold the stack when not in use or you end up covering part of your view with the stack....See More- 11 years ago
