BlueStar electric wall oven question???

Our long awaited BlueStar French Door electric wall oven arrived and it does not have the UL sticker anywhere on it! From what I understand this might not pass inspection. Another problem is that the cabinet was built to BlueStar specs but the back of the oven is at least 1/8" bigger than the specs. So right now it is sitting on the floor until we can get answers. Has anyone had the same issues?? Any thoughts??

Apparently, it's "ETL Listed" - I don't know the difference though.

So, I did a brief internet search and came up with this from Honeywell Cable's website.

"Are manufacturers required to use UL for their compliance testing?

No. In fact, this misconception has misled many to believe that they don’t have a

choice in third-party testing partners. The only major requirement is that the

laboratory performing the testing is an OSHA-recognized NRTL. The ETL Listed

Mark serves as an indicator of compliance with applicable product safety standards."

Also, this from Intertek's website.

Intertek is the lab that issues the ETL mark.

Do local inspectors know the ETL Listed Mark?

Yes. Inspectors and the Authorities Having Jurisdiction recognize and accept the ETL Mark as proof of product compliance throughout North America and in some areas of South America.

If memory serves, Bluestar's first gen gas wall ovens were long delayed from original scheduled release and then had to be recalled due to some issues. It's possible they learned from that experience and this one will go smoothly, but I wouldn't be planning on these for your reno/build until they're actually available and you can see them in showrooms.

I would suggest posting this question on the Appliances Forum. Also, have you read the specs for both ovens? You may find your answer there. Failing all else, I suggest you call each manufacturer...you might do so anyway to ensure you do not violate a warranty.

My understanding is that they have not been delivered yet to anyone. I ordered mine in October. Last I heard was they were waiting for a part that was scheduled to be delivered mid January and they expected to build and ship orders first quarter. I'm hoping to have mine by March.

Thanks you so much your comments....our rep from our appliance store came out and found out that the UL sticker is behind the control panel. He took it apart to find it. Can you imagine an inspector taking apart the control panel? Just guessing that won't happen. So we took a pic after he found it. I'll keep you posted how the final inspection goes, but a suggestion to BlueStar, please put the UL sticker in an obvious place.
