If memory serves, Bluestar's first gen gas wall ovens were long delayed from original scheduled release and then had to be recalled due to some issues. It's possible they learned from that experience and this one will go smoothly, but I wouldn't be planning on these for your reno/build until they're actually available and you can see them in showrooms.

Here in this old pic is my hood over the old JennAire range which I finally was able to replace. The motor and vent to the outside are hidden in the cabinet above the hood. The system provides a 1200 cfm exhaust, which is wonderful. Here the cabinet doors are open to show the amount of storage I retained in the 15" deep cabinets. I am sure you can find something like this that will work. Mine is a ModernAire custom built to take the minimal vertical space for motor and venting. One problem with fitting a hood into your existing kitchen is that the space above the range is the same width as the range. Recommendations are always that the hood extend least 3" wider on each side than the range. However, a number of people with situations like yours (where they are retrofitting a hood into existing upper cabinets) have installed hoods of the same width as their ranges. BlueStar has told me that you can do it... I'm just curious if anybody on here actually has. And yeah, I wish I had space for a wall oven higher up, but my kitchen is just too small. And I greatly prefer the options of cooktop / wall oven than standalone ranges.

I am looking for current ( 10/2020) owners of Blue Star electric wall ovens. My unit was install July of this year and has had a multitude of problems. The first that clock would not work. Instead of seconds it was running 100's of a second. Preheating was very slow taking almost 20 minutes to get to 350 degrees. These oven are support to have a rapid preheat. The temperature was not stable. The oven internal temperature was off anywhere from 20-50 degrees depending on the programed temperature. If the oven was run for more then 3 hours continuously it would begin to continually heat. I had to flip the breaker once to get it shut off!. I was told that a new control panel would fix my issue. The clock is working better but off by time of day. The heating issue are still occurring. The scariest part of this is the external temperature of the doors are 170 on the left 130 on the right. It does not seem to brown , food can take twice are long or have as long to cook. Blue Star with the support of my Ferguson rep has agreed to replace the oven, with a wait time of 10-12 weeks. Do I want the replacement . Please let me know if other have had similar issues.Like Save Edit Delete
