Arbor Day Seedling?
Comments (7)See how it compares with gray dogwood (C. /aka Swida racemosa). If by "Arbor Day seedling" you meant the Foundation, it is one they carry....See MoreArbor or no arbor?
Comments (14)Thanks @diggerdee zone 6 CT I detached the garage in the front for a couple of reasons. In the Chesapeake Bay watershed (this was Annapolis) we have significant impervious area restrictions and driveways count toward those. And everybody wants their house close to the water (this was waterfront) so a solution to keep the house close to the water while not going over the impervious area is to shorten the driveway which means detaching the garage from the house. And second, a detached garage means a LOT more light is entering the front of the house since there's no garage there. I had a big window in front which can be seen in one of the photos. Yes, I built the trellis at the back of the garage too to cover up a big blank wall. Another photo below And regarding garage doors, I've always been amazed at some folks who have no problem dropping $4K on a granite slab in the master bath "because we liked the silver flecks in it" or whatever, then goes ahead and puts up the cheapest garage door around, something that EVERYBODY sees. I used Coachman doors by Cloplay. I have 90 some design notes to myself here Design Notes to Self (houzz.com) and #69 is Try not to have the first view of the house be the garage door. If that's not possible try not to have the door on the closest wall to the street. If that's not possible, plan on spending a lot of money for a really nice garage door....See MoreHas anyone bought or have any furniture from Tandem Arbor?
Comments (1)I was super impressed with Tandem Arbor through the entire process. From samples to delivery, the customer service was top notch. I have had my sofa sectional for 2+ years, and it still looks and feels brand new. I designed it specifically for my space - it is 144" long with one giant chaise....See MoreWhen to use an Arbor, Trellis, or Obelisk?
Comments (5)Sunny I have a couple of the one you mentioned. Laguna is so large after 2 years on my neighbors fence I decided it needed to be moved (5-6 feet tall wood fence). It looked like it was going to break the fence if I gave it a few years. I think a sturdy arbor would be correct choice for this one. I have several quicksilvers that have been lingering in too much shade at the lake. I just moved them to a sunny location. The canes I have gotten are thick and kind of stiff so probably a good option against a fence which is what I am trying now. They could probably be trained on an obelisk with lots of care while the canes were very young but I have a feeling it doesn’t want to bend much. Also it would work on an arbor anything that didn’t require lots of bending. Looking forward to seeing your roses....See MorenanadollZ7 SWIdaho
