Need help for teen boy's bedroom!

My son wants to paint his ceiling back, and walls grey. He has a small bedroom with lots of light and medium wood furniture. Does anyone have any specific suggestions on paint (we like SW.) If he goes with this scheme, what color should trim on baseboards and windows be? Would this color arrangement look 'depressing?'

I don't have specific color suggestion. I'd just pull a few you are ok with and then let him choose the specific one from there. I don't think it will look depressing. Dark, yes, but if it's his room, no biggie. That ceiling will seem very short though painted that dark. I'd do baseboards gray or black. If you do a traditional white it's not going to look right. I think it's great of you to let your kid be so expressive.

Peppercorn on the ceiling, Knitting Needles for the walls, Spatial White for trim and doors. Definitely want to sample the colors in the space before buying gallons.

You can get a headboard the same color as the dresser, and match the night stands with it. And based on the photo below, you can use the grays tones instead of the green. dark gray sheets and lighter gray on the walls, with some decoration in wood style. And do the decorations on the blue that she wants, with pillow, a rug, curtains...

Sometimes communication with teens is tough - they would simply rather not talk to you. You could try giving him a choice rather than trying to force him to communicate his thoughts or feelings. Tell him you are painting the upstairs, including his bedroom. Give him three colors that you have pre-selected and ask him which color he would like. He will either pick one or tell you he wants the same color as he has. Do the same with furniture, bedding . . . BTW - this works with uncooperative husbands too.
