A few photos of my garden (pinks)
Comments (9)Gorgeous roses, Melody! Cool pinks are my favorite color in roses, closely followed by mauves and purples. St. Cecilia is gorgeous, I had no idea how pretty that rose is. Your Mr. Fairchild is equally beautiful. Mine is short and skinny and I wonder if it likes your climate better, although I'm inspired to try to make mine look a little more like yours. I'm so glad to see a garden other than my own here. If these are all young roses then I'm really impressed. Ingrid...See MoreEven MY garden can look pretty occasionally, (2nd try)
Comments (16)I bought the seeds from several different places. I bought two native wildflower seed mixes that didn't specify which species were included - I bought one of those from some box store like Lowe's or Home Depot and one from a local native plant nursery. I also bought seed packets of particular species (Clarkia unguiculata, Collinsia heterophylla, and Erysimum capitatum) from Everwilde Farms. When I buy actual plants instead of seeds, I usually buy them from local native plant nurseries. You can use the California Native Plant Link Exchange to find nurseries near you that sell native plants and to find plants that are native to your local area. Here is a link that might be useful: California Native Plant Link Exchange...See MoreA few Hostas from my garden - photos
Comments (11)Amazing! Brenda, I was able to find the tags (readable even) on all but one of the hosta that I posted the photos of. In order, from top photo to bottom photo, they are: 1) Ice Age Trail 2) ** missing tag ** I thought it was Blue Dimples, but it doesn't look like the Blue Dimples photos on Hostalib so now I'm not sure. 3) Montana Aueromarginata 4) Queen of the Seas 5) Same hosta as number 2 - from another angle. 6) Orange Marmelade (my husband's absolute favorite) 7) Iron Gate Delight I'd love to post more pics, if anyone would like to see them. Some I can identify, some I can't. I have somewhere around 280-300 varieties, but not all are picture worthy :-)...See MoreA few dl photos, a few other photos.....(Pix)
Comments (15)LOL Jean...the "worm" will be a beautiful butterfly before long. Glad you enjoyed my photos. Thanks Connietn, I'm really enjoying my butterfly garden too, and am so glad the butterflies approve of it as well. :) Hi Renee, I've raised baby birds before too...been a while though. Tiny seems to be doing well, trying to fly a bit. Hopefully I will be able to release it back to the wild in a few weeks. Chris, Sherry Candy wowed me with it's FFO too. I sure do like it a lot. No, that isn't the seedling you remember. It was a Cherry Chapeau x unknown as I recall. I think this is it. As for the cat pics, I can thank my camera's super macro capability for those shots. :) Yep, little Tiny is a show stealer alright, and a loud mouth too. LOL Thanks lala...and nope that's not the way I feed Tiny. I mix canned dogfood with just a little water. Hopefully he'll begin eating seed before much longer. I think we've identified him/her as a Chipping Sparrow. Cindy...glad you like my butterfly garden..it sure is a lot of fun. Baby birds can be a hoot, can't they? I hope Tiny continues to do well and I can release him before too much longer. Andrea...thanks, I appreciate your comments. Happy Gardening all, Jan...See MoreTheHostaCottage
