Hi all, Kind thanks for all your replies. Here's my very late update: All my cuttings rooted in water after a week or so but I only potted them a couple of weeks after the fact (got busy with other things). Potted them in left over 50% MG (bad I know) 50% perlite. I found it very difficult arranging the vines after they had been growing this way and that over the past several months --had to cut some vines up so they would fit. I also tried NOT to bury a lot of stem deep in the potting medium out of fear for future rot, but found it difficult to keep some of the vines stabilized otherwise. Hope I didn't mess that up too badly. In the end, I was left with one medium sized "plant", one small, one tiny, and a handful of leftover vines to give away to friends. After potting, I watered, and then wrapped them up in those big dry cleaner bags and set aside. None wilted! Hurrah! Two leaves turned yellow but I suppose that's acceptable collateral damage. Overall they seem to be doing well --some new leaves have unfurled at the tips. I've only watered once or twice since they were potted, when the soil feels dry. I hope by next spring I'll see the same level of growth as the mother plant had this year.

I'd bet you are using Google Chrome or another like it. Try clicking on the info in the gold box first. You should be able to find the list of species I describe. Then go down the right hand column. Google Chrome and Firefox both divide up the page for reasons I cannot figure out. Info should begin right at the point where the big black patch starts, however if you continue to scroll on down the page you'll find a fairly lost list of articles on a variety of subjects. If anything is underlined you should be able to click on it. If that doesn't work, and you still have access to Internet Explorer, the entire site should work fine. I've had this researched and only a couple of browsers programs appear to screw up the first page. I could have all the coding rewritten in another program but I created the entire site for free and don't try to seek advertisers. I wanted it to be available to the public as a source of information that was checked against the science and it already costs hundreds of dollars each year to keep it on the net so I gave up on the idea of buying a new website program since some 1.6 million users have read tons of the pages! Look at the counter on the top of the page. If none of this works be sure and let me know. I work on the site virtually every day. Steve

Tina, I'm moving to Gainesville. Calm down, not leaving FL. Amber, I lived in Ruskin then Bradenton when I first moved to FL. I know all too well that it gets cold here. Even way down here in 9b, it's been a cold winter. I've lived in this house for 14 years, and only once in the first 12 did my jatrophas freeze. Last year they froze down to the ground, and luckily came back. This year, they have lost all their leaves, and will probably lose a good bit of the tops of their limbs. I'm glad I won't be here to have to clean up all the winter dead stuff this year!

No rootstock designation on the tag. Oh yes, there were some suckers in that photo, it was the 'before' pic. I removed them already. Hopefully that main root that goes straight down (sideways in the pic) is OK even though it is forked. I figured I would wait a few weeks to remove the stakes, otherwise I do think the plants will fall right over in the loose 5-1-1. Even with the stake I think there is a noticable amount of movement. Eventually I hope to try using sand in lieu of perlite in the mixes. The lime, kumquat and meyer (pic in my other thread) all came with tiny fruits. They have been dropping them every day, which I expected. Fingers crossed that a few hang on. All the meyers are gone, though. And no flowers. And that's the one that I don't need to prune. So I guess I will go ahead and prune the rest now; blazing hot summer-time is OK?
