Question for those with master closet access via master bath

Do you have a closet door and do you keep it closed?

We have a small (5X7) walk-in. We used an online closet organizer retailer when we remodeled MB five years ago and had them help us with the layout. I wanted a pullout hamper and they suggested putting it behind the door. Well, I never use it because you have to walk to the back of the closet, close the door, then open the hamper.

The easiest solution would be to remove the door, which I usually leave open anyway, but I do like being able to close the door when we have company, etc.

The other option would be to move the hamper unit to the back wall, but it may be too wide making it hard to access the back parts of the side walls and I will lose some hanging space. It will probably also require DH to do some jerry-rigging to fill in the space where hamper was.

I could also put a free-standing hamper elsewhere, but then that's a lot of wasted space in the closet where the unused hamper is.

Any thoughts or ideas? If you have this setup with no door, do you miss it? Thanks for your help.
