Hi All,

We've just refinished our floors and have decided to proceed and have our staircase handrail and pickets painted. As house is a total mess right now, may as well get it all done.

As much as I'd like to re-stain, quotes of almost $4000 threw me off! We can paint for 1/2 the cost. (We have a 3 story home... @ 60 spindles and 6 posts so a lot of work)

Our painter starts We'd., so need to make some quick decisions!

Trim is currently Benjamin Moors Snowfall White.

For the pickets, do I have to stay with trim color, or can I go slightly creamier with something like BM Cloud White?

Floors are mid-tone brown with reddish undertone as per this picture.

Furniture on all levels are whites/ off- whites... Very casual look.

I'm not sure what to do with the posts...I lean toward same color as the pickets rather than dark like the handrail will be...

You don't see that much of a railing from each level.

The big question...what color to paint the handrail?

Painter suggests black ( I don't think I want) or a dark brown.

Any suggestions on a BM color to paint a handrail??

We will also be re-painting the main floor... Another light shade that needs to be nailed down within the week.

Many thanks!
