P&G Ruined April Fresh Downy Dryer Sheets too :(

P&G used to tell you to use their April Fresh Dryer Sheets, as they still have the classic April Fresh Scent....WELL, P&G has given them that sweet, chemical, synthetic candy smell they ruined the liquid softener with!

I do not usually use dryer sheets in the dryer, as they can clog the lint screen and possibly build up in the dryer ducting...but I love putting one if my sock & underwear drawer, linen closet, gym bag, cycle shoes, etc, etc. I bought a new box today at Target.....RUINED. No more classic April Fresh Scent. I really think this is because P&G has lost the rights to the original scent of Downy (a French perfume house originally created the scent many, many years ago. So bummed!

I wrote to P&G about the Downy Fragrance to inquire if they ever considered bringing the original April Fresh scent back. The reply I received was a firm "No!". They explained that there are many other fragrances available they suggested I choose one. They did send me a coupon in the mail good for 1 free bottle of Downy. That was nice of them. I also heard that there may have been some hazardous chemical in the original Downy and that's why it hasn't been recreated. But I can't confirm this, someone else may be able to.

Well, I decided, that I'd just wash the clothes, towels, and whatever, and not use any fabric softener at all. I was afraid they'd be all stiff and crunchy, but I left them going in the dryer and I was surprised that they came out ok. Plus, they don't smell like bubble gum or rotten cotton candy anymore! I wrote Proctor and Gamble, told them I will not use any of their products anymore, unless they bring back the old April Fresh...I'm sure I'll never hear from them, but I don't expect to. I'll just do it this way until, if ever, they bring it back.

Yes, Tide Total Care (now renamed something with Color). Kind of awful in the bottle, but much better after washing and either machine or air drying! We ALL have hundreds of reasons to fear P&G and their scents!!! I smelled April Fresh Downy liquid yesterday at Target, and I cannot believe that it still smells like musty, old lady perfume. How, How could this be April Fresh? I mean, even the gross, sweet tart candy scent from a few years ago was better than today's version. It now smells NOTHING like April Fresh. Sad!!!

Larsi, you can set a whole new fad in the homes of the Rich and Famous...before long it will be in everyone who is anyone's home, it will be the center of conversation at cocktail parties. AND everyone will decide what invites to accept based on the Hostess/Hosts choice of Ceiling Fan Dryer Sheets. Larsi's Get Togethers will be the Prime invite, nobody but nobody has REAL April Fresh but Larsi. LOL!!!
