The only thing I'm unsure about it where to go refrigeration wise if I can't make the Thermador Freedom columns work in my kitchen. What's the best fridge quality wise if going with a side-by-side while not having the stomach to pay Sub Zero money. Kitchen Aid or Jenn Air pro? I have a two year old Jenn Air in my current kitchen (Amana with the fancy handles). Also, is it a no-no to do a built in look and have the water and ice in the door? this is what we have and we are very satisfied with all: Miele DW, diamante plus, but i think its discontinued, cleans great Miele speed oven: Love this oven. if u get this u don't need a microwave, its does it all!!! Wolf "E" series full size oven. we got a floor model from appliance store so saved $$, no problems with blue flaking although others have a had this problem. cooks beautifully, even/true temps Miele 36" induction cooktop, Love induction, would never go back to any other type. easy to use/clean, just a great appliance. other brands also get pretty high marks on here, i really never read a bad review about any induction tops. i guess u decide on layout, looks and cost. was going to get wolf, but miele was cheaper and i loved the look of it, no SS edges like the bosch, just a real clean, simple design. Liebherr 36" FD frig, love it and no problems. looked a sub-zero, but liebherr was much cheaper. i wanted a paneled frig, so that really narrowed down my choices., not a fan of SS frigs so i knew i was not going that route at all. we are a family of 5 and the frig is more than adequate but we also have a freezer in laundry room. you can also check out ebay and your local craigslist to try and save some $ i know gwers love the thermador frig/freezer columns, so that might be worthwhile to look into. these appliances are around 3 years old.....

It is a Toll Brother's house. So I suppose one could call it a tract home. There's a lot of customization they allow for, in addition to all the different options they already have available. Not quite your no substitution Chinese menu. :-) And we were invited to basically go by the site daily if we wanted to monitor the construction. But I'm also new to this, so major things like missing outlets, or a standard outlet vs the outlet we paid for I catch. Other things I appreciate advice on knowing whether it is an issue, something not to worry about, etc. We don't own the land. We picked a lot, and one of the available floor plans, then made changes that we wanted to the floor plan, picked finishes, flooring, paint, electrical, etc. I don't think I have a photo of the master bathroom tile that shows them being offset slightly from the grid. And from a distance, I probably isn't noticeable. The face plates on the outlets I suppose depends on the persons eye. I noticed it, but it doesn't appear to be off enough that a bubble on a level would not be "centered". So as mentioned those items probably not worth dying on a hill over. Maybe not even worth mentioning. I do have pictures of the asymmetrical outlets. That one may be a hill worth dying on for my wife and me. The first photo would be the "East" wall or one on the left and the second photo is the "West" or right side. Someone else pointed out I should check the fuse box to see if we ended up with GFI circuit breakers, since as far as I remember, there is not a single GFI outlet in the house. As for the 3x3 grid of lights, without getting up there with a tape measure, not sure a picture would do any good. Could just be an optical illusion. Anyway, I appreciate everyone's input so far. Like many, I've been working at home full time for a year+ now. I prefer to have my desk facing the room (not a wall) and not have my back to the door. Of course it's nice to be able to see out the windows, too. If you do a lot of Zoom meetings (which seem to take up most of my day), consider your background (unless you always use a virtual background) -- IMO bookshelves (filled with books you might never read but make you look smart) or a wall with art is nicer in the background than a door where people might be walking by or walk in. Also, if your back is to a window, your face will probably be in shadow and you'll look like you're in a witness protection program. Overhead lighting alone can be unflattering (if you care) so it's nice to have a table / desk lamp at about face level. Your requirements for an office may vary greatly, but if it were me and the way I work... in your office, I could see a nice set of built-in shelves along the left wall, and a desk placed near the center of the room, facing toward the right, and slightly closer to the windows so you have a walking path from the door to behind the desk. Great piece(s) of art and family pictures on the right wall. Easy reach behind you for paperwork or books, view out the window to your right, and art in front of you to keep you inspired. You can see whoever comes and goes in the hall, or shut your door when you need focus. I'd get a desk with built-in outlets, and if you can get a power source in the floor then you can just run one cord up a desk leg. For your ceiling fixture you might want to consider a chandy or pendant with a chain that you can swag in case you want to reposition it at any time. The lower right corner could have a wonderful big plant, or if you need more storage for files you could have a nice looking file cabinet there.
