Been there, done that.

Oh yes :-( I am a chronic reorganizer, rearranger, putting things in 'more convenient' places, etc., then when I need one, forgot where it put it so have to go looking! Eventually everything turns up but it sure can be frustrating in the meantime.

I once bought a little book to write down where I was putting things. Never once wrote anything down.

Yep. Put some sensitive stuff in a safer place prior to leaving on vacation, just in case of a break in while we were gone. After two weeks, I had no idea the location of the safe place I had chosen. Did that twice, before coming up with a better strategy.

All the time

Thirty years ago or more, I put some concert tickets in a safe place. Place was so safe, the tickets have not been found to this day. This in spite of a house move 17 years ago, when you might think I would have found them as I was weeding thru stuff prior to the move. HAH. Didn't happen. It has become a family joke all these years -- "Mom hid it with the AIM tickets!". I'll never live it down....

Today I am hunting for my little folding saw... I think I put it with the tickets.... =(

boy was this current! we found a copy that i had purchased a bond for my dgs, but the actual bond wasn't with the others for the grands! and not being able to purchase bonds at the local bank anymore makes it about impossible to replace?

I've heard you always find something in the last place you'd look. Of course, you stop looking when you find it.

All too often. I had two pairs of flannel men's sleep pants...I guess you call them. Brand new....never wore them. Can't find them. I remember hanging them up and I thought I put them in the closet in the spare room. No. Not in any closet in the house. I have searched for them many times...would have been nice to sleep in last winter on cold nights. They seem to have vaporized.

I had put $$ for the car insurance in a good place and forgot about it, then lo and behold I find $400 in the linen closet a few months later. That was sweet.

When we were selling our house and moving, I was downsizing like crazy. Took lots of books to the local library for their used book sale. Oops! DH had a fit, he had a couple of hundred in a book on the shelf in our bedroom!

Went to the library and found the stack that had been donated, or at least some of the books. No cash. Someone got a nice wind fall.
