Comments (1)Sink the pot into a pail of water to the top of the soil for 10 mins. or so and let it drain well afterward. BTW, you are always free to post a new thread, which might have been less complicated....See MoreTeeny Tiny, lime green to neon orange flying, biting insects
Comments (12)They are probably “thrips” in the adult flying stage. They need moisture, but I’ve still got a problem with them even here in the desert, since they get moisture near my plants. You probably have them in larvae form too. I thought I had a ton of teeny tiny ants in my backyard and under the dog’s water bowl indoors. The larvae are literally only 1mm, so they look like dust until they move. I captured one yesterday in a 7x high resolution handheld microscope setup and was surprised that my “ant” was actually a neon green and black beetle. Here is the damage they cause- they suck nutrients from leaves, and their spit gets into the leaf leaving small yellow or white circles. They can cause a lot of damage pretty quickly. I do not know how to get rid of them safely at this point. Hopefully someone can help out in that department....See Moreteeny teeny tiny blackberry lily!
Comments (4)They are not fast sprouters ladies. No way. You thihnk you've got a bad flat but wait a month and you see seedlings. If you have to end your care of no-shows (and who doesn't) just flip-flop that soil onto a bed and pat it into the soil surface. You have to fist flip the flat onto an old cookie sheet and then flip it again so it lays in the bed top-side up. Then just pat it in or simply use your foot and press. It can be quite surprise what will show up this year...or sometimes even in the next year....See Moretiny little ants...
Comments (4)They really like green mint jelly. Maybe buy them a jar of it and put it out in the bushes with a nail hole in the lid. Personally I mixed a bunch of ant powder with some green mint jelly and made a bunch of cute little tiki huts to catch their attention which got rid of them last yr. Millions of them were walking up and down my outside walls climbing guy wires into a tree and I suspect harvesting aphid honeydew on oak tree or magnolia leaves. This yr I just squirt em with the powder so far as there ain't many left & that jelly is expensive....See More- 11 years ago
