Interesting early 1970s rehab.

I looked at this house today. This house was bought in near-shell condition around 1970. The first floor had been a Victorianized storefront, and it is likely the uppermost floors were empty for decades. There may have not been much original fabric to salvage. Many of the houses had had details stripped long ago.

There is a scene in the movie adaptation of From the Terrace (1960) in which Paul Newman's character is told by a detective that his alcoholic mother had been located on this very block, and by the expression on everybody's face, and the dramatic music, you knew that she had really hit bottom.

I hope that someone who appreciates it buys it.

After slum clearance had started down the street. I looked at the boarded up house on the corner a few years ago, as well.
