Next step for brug babies
Comments (6)Congrats on the roots! I suggest you put them up out of her reach, or move them to another room where you can close the door for the time she will be there. She's too young to know not to touch, and at that age, you know how everything is still going into the mouth. not good. 2 more suggestions..Now that they are in pots with soil, I would cover the soil with sand, to keep away the dreaded fungus gnats. The babies will eat at the roots and could kill your cuttings. I learned the fungus gnat lesson last year..ugh! And the last thing is about the leaves. I know you want it to look like a jungle..but you really should keep those leaves trimmed. You don't want a buffet for buggies like spider mites. I learned that lesson last year too, lol. No leaves = no food for the pesties. Someone just posted asking about that exact question. When spring comes, those babies will be poppin out leaves left and right....See MoreDR Next Steps?
Comments (25)i tend to think that the curio cabinet crowds the corner also..but the woods are great together..i would find a different spot for the curio..and some of your other furniture arrangements are a bit odd..esp blocking the fireplace with the table..not a good idea. the rooms are confusing me just a little bit..it seems you have a room with the piano adj to the room with the fireplace? and that the fireplace should really be the LIVING ROOM, and the other area..music room is fine. Myself i would center the rug in front of the fireplace and put the sofa and chair grouping in front of the fireplace..leaving the rocking chairs in the MUSIC room area..do you have a television in these areas? I didn't see one..try the sofa maybe facing the fireplace with the rug centerd..put a red chair on either side of the sofa.. or place the sofa and 2 chairs facing each other on either side of the fireplace with the leather chair facing the grouping.. or place the sofa facing the fireplace with the 2 red chairs on one side and the leather chair and a table and lamp on the other side (probably the french door side).. try the two rockers with a table between them and a lamp where the sofa is now..and maybe the leather chair on the other side of the room with a table and lamp for a reading nook, and maybe with the ottomon if it looks right with it. you might find a small empty wall to put the china cabinet on where it isn't so crowded..or maybe you could put it in the Music area on the right side of the piano wall..with the leather chair and a small table and make a reading nook like that..??...See MoreNeed Hardwood Floor Refinishing Tips
Comments (2)The floor doen't appear to be sanded thoroughly. You need bare wood for stain. It won't penetrate old finish. See if you can find a Varathane EZV floor sander. It's a rental unit and, I believe, the best for a DIY floor job. For the water stains you might try oxalic acid. It's available in hardware stores. Follow the directions carefully. Minwax Polyshades is a tinted polyurethane. It's difficult to get an even color with it. Multiple coats will obscure the grain. Is there any reason you didn't want to use a stain and clear poly? If the floors sanded correctly only one coat of stain is necessary or useful. Also I would think that a stain as dark as Bombay Mahogany would do a pretty good job of hiding the water stains after you lighten them. I can't tell about a color match without seeing it. You could try your stain on a small area near the kitchen. If it doesn't look good then sand it back off and get another stain. Good Luck...See MoreNext Step...Painting....and I need your help!! Comments (60)Thanks Ramses, but my DH vetoed anything brown or tan immediately...he doesn't like brown walls. I know, there are different kinds of browns and tans, but at this point I don't want to argue over, I mean discuss :-), it anymore. I was also thinking of a gray, but thought that would be too close to the black/white I'm known for. I want color! So, we decided to go with the Cornsilk in the Kitchen & DR and Wedgewood Gray in the FR and, I think, the LR. My DH is out buying the paint as I type! The color opinions here & on the Home Decorating Forum were split about equally...half for Cornsilk/half for Wedgewood. We decided to go w/our original plans b/c, as David123 said, it's easy enough to change it if we don't like it...or if after this foray into color I get bolder and want deeper/different colors! I'm taking baby steps here...! BTW...I did call a couple of BM stores near us and neither had color consultants any more other than the store staff. They both told me they discontinued the consultants...didn't really get a good answer why. So, what does everyone think about A TP holder w/room for extra rolls and a similar one for towels that are recessed into the wall OR A stand for TP in the corner in front of the toilet & towel rack for towel hung over the toilet OR A TP holder mounted on the wall in front of the toilet (sides are too tight) and a towel rack above it OR Something else all together?...See Moretracefacemsu
