Bob loves the hospital so much ...
Comments (25)*sigh* Bob had another surgery today to find out what is happening with his tummy. They did find an infection and drained the fluid but have no idea if it was the result of his lung infection or if the lung infection started with his abdomen. They really couldn't see anything wrong except for the infection - no wound or problem with the incisions from his colon cancer surgery. He came out of surgery fine but complained that his tummy hurt like hell. I just hope he is finally on the road to recovery. Just to give you an idea of who Bob is, here are some pictures that capture his essence... I should have had him brush his hair before doing the Cousin It impression. We had just gotten to the hotel after a long car trip. This is the two of us together last summer... Thank you all for the well wishes! And thank you, Karen, for the inspirational picture of Jason! Great caption!...See MoreHow much to *tip* my non parking attendent
Comments (19)We just got back from a visit to NYC - yes, tips and more tips. They were almost all given because we got exceptional and friendly service, though. One or two waiters were not great and their tip was minimal. The drivers of the cars that picked us up at the airport were so friendly, helpful, talkative - just great, although the gratuatity was added to the price, we tipped anyway. They were just so NICE. As we were on the way back to the airport the driver asked us where we were going, and we told him Dallas. He asked if we had checked our flight. We really didn't know what he meant, but we had checked the night before and we were on the list, or whatever you call it. When he unloaded our bags, a baggage handler came over to get our tickets and said our flight had been cancelled. We were scheduled to leave at 12:30 for Dallas. I asked him if he was joking and he said, "Oh, no maam, I wouldn't joke with my customers." He went over to the check in station outside, then grabbed one of our bags and said, 'Come on, get your other bag and hurrry, follow me." He rushed inside, talked to a young man at another computer and hands us some more tickets. He had gotten us on the 11:00 flight - now that deserved a tip!!! We don't gift the men who drive the garbage trucks - not for Christmas. There are few restrictions, as in amounts, etc., and sometimes we really have a big pile. When we do, our husband always tips them for that. So, chefwong, it seems you got it settled - so now you know....See Moredoes one tip...
Comments (15)well...these guys are not charging me, their large company is. They are likely getting paid little. Now if it were a mom and pop company we went with where I knew the $$$ we all going to the installer/owners then the tipping part might not be necesary. The install is likely more important than the actual equipment being installed so I would think one would want to encourage the best job possible by making access to the area as easy as possible, having some snacks and drinks around, access to a bathroom etc. If a nice job is done, why not have a tip? They may have a better feeling should they need to come back. Yea, maybe its a bit like bribery for a job they should be doing anyway but in the grand scheme of cost, whats an extra $50 for some goodies and a tip for a job well done....See MoreHusband JUST back from the hospital, and scales on one of my Meyers
Comments (20)Good morning, y'all, . Thank you for the kind words, Mike. Laura, I will definitely hit you if I ever head towards Annapolis :). And thanks to all of you for the well wishes for Dave. It means more than you know. . He's better, I think. He's starting to be hungry again, and he now eats 3 meals a day. Granted, they are much smaller meals than what he used to have, and they are almost fat free, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We haven't had any setbacks since he left the hospital, so I must be doing something right in what I feed him. We are scheduled to go see some big wig at Hopkins that is specializing n Pancreatitis, so we'll see what he tells us. . The trees have been spending their days outside (except yesterday since temps were in the friggin 40's), but I've chickened out on the nights when I saw it go below 50 this week, so I brought them back in for the nights. As soon as it's steadily staying above 55, I'll just leave them out 24/7. I can't wait for that, either. I am so sick of that rain and constant drizzle and cold. I need some sunshine at least as much as my trees do. . I've also just finished giving them their first feed since last October when I brought them in for the winter, and their very first FP feed, since we decided to stop giving them the organic Grow More fertilizer I gave them last year. I've fumbled a little with the strenght to give them, and figured out 1/4 Tbsp for 1/2 gallon, as described in THIS POST I intend to use the "mikerno-approved method", and feed them every day about 10 minutes after their daily watering. I was uncertain of my FP per gallon proportions, so I decided to start low at 1/4 Tbsp / 1/2 gallon (1/2 gallon being the volume of my "fertilitzer pitcher"). . I haven't seen any scales appear back, but that doesn't mean squat, I still have to redo the Neem oil next week (Tuesday will be a week since my last application), and then the week after that, again. . I'm sorry I'm not contributing more to these boards, these days. It's just that by the time I'm done with all I have to do, I'm so drained and bone deep exhausted that I can't summon the energy to actually "write" anything. I do read your posts and replies, though, it's relaxing and allows me to think of something else, no matter how briefly. . I hope y'all have a great week end. God bless, . Atheen...See MoreGeorgysmom
