You're welcome! It's not odd that cooler zones will report more fragrance from many than warmer areas. Those in the cooler places are probably smelling them when the oils and alcohols are most volatile and smell the most. We in the warmer areas often miss out because they evaporate faster as the heat increases. Also, as aridity increases, the scents burn out faster. The various components of each rose's fragrance evaporate at different rates, so one may smell very Damask at first, quickly morphing into orris or citrus, finishing a completely different scent before losing any detectable trace for the day. Thanks for the advice mgleason56! It looked really different, very intriguing! I'll make sure it is in the best growing spot to give it the best possible start. I can start hauling compost and preparing the bed. It will be potted up first, and babied along. Good thing I made plenty of compost this year! I thought I'd also mention Vintage Gardens and their possible closing in my party plan (not roses) sales talk. Lots of people here love to garden and would like some nice roses. Thanks you so much Bgrose, Carol, and Jim! Carol, Folklore is always supposed to be a bicolor but the camera fails to capture it because I don't take it under the optimum lighting. It is a brilliant candy-tangerine orange on one side and a lemon butter cream on the other side. It looks nothing like Disneyland. Disneyland is very floribunda-like but Folklore does consistently "spiral" and is a classic HT. Bgrose, yes, Lincoln is my favorite rose! but the next one in line will almost 98% be Ferdinand Pichard. Both roses have the most AMAZING FRAGRANCE!!! Great news people, Crescendo's color is deepening, and may revert to Gemini coral. I am so excited about this... But if I post new pics that would be breaking my promise about saving everything for the next Lumpy batter batch, haha! Which is another reason why I stopped myself from posting my photos of my Scottish heath and heather. I absolutely love those new plants but we will see if they can flourish in my soil which is very ill-suited for heather/heath...They need sandy and acidic and not clay.alkaline soil so I'm trying to feed them tea leaves for the acid... lol, Jim, I am having a ROTTEN DAY TODAY, lol, today of all days, and yes! Up to you...lol..What date does summer start? 21st? Only seen 1 tornado here in our direct local area Nanadoll in 57 years... 1990's... It tore a block of trees out just 2 blocks from our house...We went into the cellar that day... Our potted Fiji blooms stink...lol...I think our climate is just not right for many petaled rose blooms...Blooms need to open fairly quick here or rain makes them look bad before they get open.. I've even been keeping potted Fiji on the back porch out of rain...So slow to open in our cooler weather that it rotted...I'm guessing Plum Perfect will do the same...Guess I need to face it....lol...Next year I think I'll remove the in the ground Fiji...Then buy a new rose bush to go into its location..I'll still have potted Fiji...And I'll give Plum Perfect more time in the ground...If PP fails I'll pot him up too...lol Posting a pic can anyone see it????
